Yeah, this is true, but at least it leaves the small houses for the poors.
If everything was the way it was before, even those would be going for insane amounts that would effectively be off-limits to everyone except gillionaires.

Most of housing shortage is the direct result of gating farming behind it, and not restricting housing to one plot per actual person. A lot of housing was locked up by people who both owned a house personally, and one via their FC. Or worse, people with multiple accounts.
If they’d created more apartments, and allowed full fledged farming inside it, most people wouldn’t even care about the housing plots. I wanted one for neighbors, but never found one near anyone that was active.
You forget you’re talking about a game that has to separate their token vendors into eleventy different categories, prevents you from doing basic actions with certain windows up, and limits your glamour dresser to 400 units.
The games’ basic systems are a dumpster fire despite the fanbase being rabidly loyal to it.
I like the game, but it’s by no means perfect or even optimal.
It’s a miracle its as workable as it is. They’ve even basically said more instanced housing would kill their servers.
I think it’s important to differentiate loyalty to the game, and their loyalty to the broken systems. I think most people will acknowledge that things like the dumpster fire glamour system, and the failings of the housing system, are indeed problems.
But Yoshi is either one of the world’s most convincing conmen, or genuinely cares about his player base. That goes a LONG way toward earning your customers loyalty. They actually explain why they make unpopular decisions, instead of just showing their overwhelming contempt in the form of great quotes like “don’t you own a phone?”, Or “you think you do, but you don’t”.
I think he cares for sure, and to be fair he wasn’t the one who started it. He came in later to fix the game, cleaned up a pile of steaming poop into a much more competent game.
But there’s certain things that it seems just can’t be fixed. They like to blame spaghetti code and server limitations - I’m inclined to believe them.
So with that said, expecting them to come around with some magic to make it work perfectly…probably not gonna happen. I’m glad it’s as good as it is.
