Stalagmites above?!

Actually, it would make sense. Azeroth is a full sized planet…and even if it were much smaller than Earth (which is nearly 8,000 miles across), the sword would have to be well over a thousand miles long to reach the core. As it stands, it has barely penetrated into the outer crust by about two miles…three at most. That’s like taking a large world globe and sticking it with a tack.

Realistically, the only reason Sargaras’ sword was a threat to the world soul was because of its corruptive ‘poison’. That’s probably the reason why it was essentially ignored after it was cleansed.

This is a confirmed fact?

Unless you perched a satchel or something, there isn’t really gonna be much above you. The places where stuff is placed would often be explained by water running through once solid rock making new formations. These plateau looking structures for instance.

Mind you, I love caves. Been to 13 different ones… Those formations don’t exist unless caused by other means.

What is on the stalagmite is irrelevant to the conversation. What is perched on the stalagmite is anyone’s guess.

Something unspecified is there. On the stalagmite above you.

Is there a name for it if a stalactite and stalagmite join in one continuous growth?

What is a stalagmite is relevant.

Those are called columns, they’re common.

We’ve already established that it’s a mineral deposit that forms from the ground up.

My point is, all the rares and items I find flying around on my main and alts aren’t on stalagmites. Give me a damned pin.

If I cut the centre out of a column can I call them stalagmites and stalactites now?

Yep. It’s in the book. Of course they don’t put that info in the game. That’d make too much sense. :upside_down_face:

You’d call them from their original names I’d surmise, though it wouldn’t be the same as it’s been altered by non-natural means.

I always remember stalagmites are on the ground because of the G pretending the G stands for ground. Stalactites I remember similarly… C… ceiling.

The message is announcing a rare is arriving - not 100% sure which one, but I believe it’s one of the big nerubians that attacks the farms that are at the base of some big stalagmites.

so there a bulky nerubian lurking at top of the big stalagmite, it is above us and if starts moving and dislodging debris, the debris will rain down.

So let’s take a step back and look at this thread:

People are misreading stalagmite as stalactite, imagining something crawling on the ceiling, then criticizing the writers for not using the word they imagined?

Then they’ve messed up. This may be a fictional fantasy world…but even in such as that, for that sword to reach the center of Azeroth, they need to make it five hundred times bigger than what we see in Silithus. That, or all of Azeroth is only the size of Vermont.

I’m willing to bet an arthropod could manage perching on a stalagmite. What kind of Nerubian is it?

I learned that stalagmites might reach the top.

Honestly, that’s Sargeras himself. You could explain that by he channeled his energy through the sword and into the world. He’s a damned titan.

And once they do, they’re no longer stalagmites.

It is in the cinematic. Game assets couldn’t handle that. It’s also why Teldrassil was so small.

That would’ve literally been an extinction level event.
