I’m playing an alt, showing some stuff to a friend and I was in the area of SSC, so I thought I’d show that off.
This is a lv44 Paldain. I go through the tubes, I go up to the waterfall… I can’t go in. There’s no levers, no NPCs to talk to, it seems like it’s just not letting me start SSC.
There isn’t an attunement anymore, is there? I shouldn’t need to be in a raid at lv44 for SSC.
Does anyone know what’s up with this?

I don’t know. But why can’t a lv44 just walk into SSC?
Even, worst case scenario, the new level-scale makes SSC current content for a lv44 (omg no???), I should still be able to walk in. There shouldn’t be an attunement.
I should be able to just walk in and fight elevator boss, if nothing else.
the only reason that’d prevent you from going in i feel would be your alt might be in chromie time and ‘scaling’ the place to your level or something but even then that might be a bit of a reach might wanna reach out to blizzard via ticket and see if they can help
Thank you, but no, this alt isn’t in Chromie time. Without a long explanation: I know for a fact, 100%, this alt is not in Chromie time. 
It’s something else. Maybe a negative side effect of level squish.
it might be tbh, i haven’t really run into this issue much in regards to myself because most of my chars are above the level threshold but I think without scaling tbc would go to… 30? maybe 25? It’s difficult to say, sorry couldn’t be more help :v
Yeah that’s what’s scaring me. I went into the other dungeons next to it (Slave Pens, etc) and the mobs were lv44.
Why the eff would they be, effectively, max level???
Like you’re saying, that range of material should be knee-capped in the 25-30 range.
Are all mobs in the zone low lvl (lvl 29) or are they at your same lvl?
If all mobs are lvl 44 then you are in chrome time. And need to talk to chrome to leave it
I don’t think they downscale raids in Chromie time.
And you don’t have to be attuned for Kara in non-Chromie time to do Kara anymore so a Serpentshrine attunement wouldn’t make sense.
This is all in retail of course.
It’s 30. I have done a lot of these dungeons, not in Chromie time.

You can not enter raids while in Chromie time.
That settles that.
Chromie time should give you a buff you can view so at any time you know if you are or aren’t. I’m not sure why they didn’t. But it needs that.
True, I agree. But you can easily tell by just looking at the map haha. The zones will scale to 50 in Chrome time.

Chromie time is buggy. It’s not unusual for me to join a group and find from looking at the bubble on the party frame that somebody is in a different phase.
But unlike warmode, often the phase indicator is wrong. I may be in a group with someone in Northrend, standing next to them and looking at them, and one of us has the bubble showing that the other is in a different phase and can’t be seen until they change chromie time. And the other one doesn’t.
At least it no longer tells level 20’s they have to go to Oribos to change their settings.
