Buff XP gains and change how abilities are distributed while leveling.
Don’t break the game with a stupid solution to a simple problem.

Exactly. Nobody wants to play a game where they go 30+ levels without getting any new skills…
Not much they can do with the 7 abilities we get leveling up. No easy way to distribute that across 120 levels.
Even then, pre-BFA leveling speed was fast enough that it wasn’t a huge issue for 7 level gaps like that to exist.
New players dont want to join a mmo and be 120 levels behind. Blizz knows this and its a problem for them getting new $ubs.
Then they shouldn’t have nerfed baseline XP gains and RAF.
Taking a sledgehammer to the level system because of a problem they created recently is just stupid.
Perhaps, but like others have said in this and numerous other similar threads the real problem isn’t the number of levels but the spread of the few talent tiers we have.
We would be better served if they reworked the trees to an earlier model, that while maybe a bit more complex appealed to a wider swath of the players.
As for the number of levels vs the squish, it is 6 of one half dozen of another. Sure 60 may look more obtainable, but if they slow down the leveling process to accommodate the vast amount of content already in game it will become a very slow process.
Additionally, if you buff XP, and the new player flies past the first few levels with relative ease, they probably aren’t going to be as intimidated as they initially were.
In contrast, if you have, let’s say, sixty levels where in the same amount of time, you barely scratched past level two, that would be more intimidating.
Couldn’t agree more. I don’t think people realize that when they squish the levels they will either squish the xp gains or require us to get the same amount it would take to get to 120.
and they have known this since they put 7.3.5 in place but refused to budge on it. NOW they want to do a level squish? They are not capable of doing one without jacking the entire game up.
Exactly. Practically, all a squish would do by itself is make you ‘ding’ less often.
If they have to adjust XP values to make the process faster, buffing XP values without the squish would have accomplished the same thing regardless.
They will break the very foundation this game is built upon if they mess with levels.
This is a near certainty. There is no way to adjust the levels of all brackets and expansions and not leave stuff behind.
I agree with the OP. The problem isn’t the number of levels, it’s the time it takes to hit level cap. Reducing the max level won’t change anything if it takes just as long to level up. In fact it might feel worse if it takes twice as long to gain each level.
Bring back the old RAF xp bonus.
Bring back 300% xp potions (let us earn them in some challenging/grindy way at max level).
Bring back the ability for high level characters to run low levels through dungeons.
The fact so many people fail to understand this is upsetting to me.
if they brought back the good old talent tree and put actual interaction back into gearing (gems, enchants on most slots, possibly reforging ect) then it wouldnt matter so much how fast you burn through levels because youre engaged with your character much more.
also, levelling up super quick only devalues all the non current content. why not actually add things in to encourage players to not bum rush to the cap? bring back an actual journey maby. maby even try to create communities around each previous expansion so 90% of the game isnt dead and people arent just doing the same raid every week.
They aren’t going to invent 130+ levels of new content. A squish is a good idea to take 1-120 as it is now and make it 1-60 and make the overall time to go 1-60 more like 30 hours instead of 60.
My worry is that they will level squish and then double the time per level - effectively doing nothing at all.
They don’t have to. The content already exists, you know - from the expansions.
XP buff does that without a squish.
What difference is it going to be if in 2 hours you complete 10 levels and get one ability or in 2 hours you complete 5 levels and get one ability ? You are still going the same length of time without new abilities.
And why is this a problem now when it wasn’t prior to 7.3.5 ?
Amazes me how much people let a number dictate their emotions over a game.
If they don’t do a squish, great.
If they do a squish, who cares?
Sorry I was responding to the criticism that our talents only get buffed every 15 levels and that feels bad (it does). They aren’t going to give us a tree that supports 130 levels, so a level squish is actually not a bad idea.
