Just give up. He doesn’t understand his own hyperbole for the sake of pushing a narrative. Nothing is set in stone, they’re looking to see how it does and they may implement from there if NFTs become more stable. That’s all there is to it. But sensationalism always yells louder than truth.
You make a good deal of assumptions, I clicked the thread out of curiosity. As for “Splitting hairs” again, you are assuming their intent. Just because they possibly look into NFT compatibility does not necessarily mean they “will” insert them into their gaming.
If NFTs go public yes, they’ll include them, however the president makes it clear that they don’t plan on being the first company to put them in
However, we do observe examples here and there of overheated trading in NFT-based digital goods with somewhat speculative overtones, regardless of the observed value of the content provided This, obviously, is not an ideal situation, but I expect to see an eventual right-sizing in digital goods deals as they become more commonplace among the general public, with the value of each available content corrected to their true estimated worth, and I look for them to become as familiar as dealings in physical goods.
That “drama” is part and parcel of one of the primary objections to NFTs. Just because it’s not the type of con you’re looking for doesn’t mean it’s not one. You said “I’m not interested in splitting hairs or semantics” and then promptly partially derailed your own thread splitting hairs and playing semantics.
Also:
Welcome back person that has said they were moving on for the third time!
Moving on from arguing with you. Not the thread. Or are you going to cry “SEMANTICS!” again?
Edit: also wrong again. Because I never once mentioned that I was leaving this thread or anything. Moving on from the topic of that argument is not somehow anything more than that. There were no “three times,” either. So I’m not sure why you keep twisting or making things up.
Yea yea, excuses excuses. We both know you can’t help yourself.
I simply notice a trend in the threads I post. Thallia shows up, and then you do as well.
It’s a pretty good assessment that if it’s heavily mentioned in a holding president letter then there is a likelihood that efforts to monetize NFTS have taken place.
But splitting hairs is this threads theme.
It’s not splitting hairs, it’s your baseless assumption that someone WILL do something after making a public prediction on it… Square Enix is saying nothing more via this letter than the fact that they will follow public trends… that’s it.
It’s the holding president not a stock broker making a prediction dude. This is ABOUT the company and it’s development strategies and efforts.
It’s about the PUBLIC or are you just not reading the part I so generously provided? Nothing about this says anything about Square Enix specifically, I have twice now provided you the segment where the president discusses it and it does NOT mention adding them to their games specifically, only predicting the trend that they will take off in popularity IN GENERAL in gaming… which includes other games like WoW by the way…
Absolutely not endorsing what Blizzard has done in the past with all those workplace scandals, and I really hope that the industry can change, but let’s not kid ourselves, these things are also happening at Square Enix, Ubisoft, Bethesda, etc…
Actiblizz is not better, nor worse, than all of them.
Square Enix Holding President makes a letter discussing developments in the industry in the past year and things they are looking into and you act like it’s not about Square enix. Jesus christ, this is hysterical.
Because it ISN’T just discussing Square Enix, are you DENSE?
But it’s also discussing Square Enix. Implicitly and EXPLICITLY.
Are YOU dense?
Every company is going to pay attention to what’s going on and follow trends if they take off. I mean, that’s what corporations do. I’m not sure why people think a corporation wouldn’t be paying attention to these things and then implement them if the pros outweighed the cons to make them more money.
The letter specifically says:
We will keep a close eye on societal shifts in this space while listening to the many groups of users that populate it, and ramp up our efforts to develop a business accordingly, with an eye to potentially issuing our own tokens in the future.
but I expect to see an eventual right-sizing in digital goods deals as they become more commonplace among the general public, with the value of each available content corrected to their true estimated worth, and I look for them to become as familiar as dealings in physical goods.
Read it again I suppose…
Sure I’ll read further down for you
“This at the same time means that we are seeing the beginnings of further leaps forward for our business. We remain committed to creating, developing, and providing world-class content, and we will contribute to the happiness of society and its people by offering new forms of excitement.”
And? Businesses follow trends… news at 11…
If that was gonna be your defense for businesses following a scam you should’ve just lead with that lmao.
Your accusation is that this is JUST Square Enix and thus why WoW is better… without any definitive proof that Enix even is going to do it, as someone points out above, they are observing whether NFTs take off or not before or IF they implement them.
Hmm. This might be a very short-sighted view on NFTs. I have a different opinion; especially when Meta is really just getting started.
