Sorry, but no. Those are all cons. Just take the L, sir.
Nah they aren’t. Take the L sir.
Hence the rise of DLC.
I remember back in 1991 and beyond buying a whole game. Day 1.
It was all in there. Just go, you know, unlock it. Now you can beat the game blindfolded on your head for the hardest achievement in the game and no special item for you. that…is here. For 5.99.
Could you put it in for free and let me earn it and wth…sell it for 5.99 for the less motivated?
Yeah…we could. But we won’t.
When someone says they recognize the potential overtones and how it affects things, that’s looking at the cons. He literally spells it out. But you keep being you.
Cool. Feel free to keep being wrong. It’s not a real con.
Anyways, it doesn’t really matter anyways. It’s pretty clear they have intentions to try and implement it somewhere if it’s brought up so this is just splitting hairs.
all an nft in wow would be is a limited quantity items they dont even have to make them real money transactions, just have their cost be in wow tokens. If they put some siginifigant item in their new “excellently writte expansion”(lol) and have players care about it and then only have there be 500 of them and have it only be transferable through the AH,the price would get astronomically high. some dagger with some special non-power effect for finishing top 100in 2v2 arena or something like that. Getting a top 100 raid parse. blizzard just takes a percentage each time it gets sold in the AH. Im cool with that.
The problem is that the greed would take over and the concept of making 20k when the item gets 200K USD would make them shift too much focus into NFTs and not into the game itself… although it could motivate them to actually invest in the lore and story more to get people more interested in these items.
If they had a better handle on developing wow, i wouldnt be scared of NFTs, but they can barely handle WoW, much less an emerging digital marketplace.
“I don’t want to be proven incorrect, so I’m going to ignore the small cons and not call them cons, even though they are.”
sighs
Moving on.
We already have limited quantity items/rewards, don’t need NFTs for that.
You know, none of the above requires the use of NFTs.
That’s what the second time you said this?
Don’t project your feelings onto me. I know you hate it when people don’t give into you. It’s ok, we know you were wrong. So you can move on now like you keep claiming to be.
Like you’re doing with Square Enix on this topic ? I haven’t kept up with the whole NFT fiasco sweeping the internet, but have they actually CONFIRMED they’re doing NFTs for certain?
The holding President mentioned them. So that’s a pretty sure sign they are trying to figure out if they can find a way to monetize them into the game. Are we going to split hairs again?
The president mentioned them, as a not ideal situation… which doesn’t suggest they will… there’s splitting hairs and then there’s speaking for someone else when that party has not given you permission to speak on their behalf, especially if what is spoken is untrue.
The NFT portion of the letter above does not say they will for sure be adding NFTs, what it DOES say is “if NFTS explode in popularity in other games we will add them as well to jump on the band wagon.”.
It is a straight up, yet somehow legitimate, scam.
Why are you guys like this
NFTS are just new age baseball cards basically what all crypto is, So the question remains is will the fad die?
It’s possible Blizzard will sell NFT’s in the new gear store. They mentiones collectibles.
No, he did not say they are an unideal situation. He is basically hoping people calm down and NFT is seen as an acceptable form of monetization. Further down the president hopes that currencies like NFTS become popularized actually.
The president is literally listing all his ideas to make it a viable development strategy. So I love how your trying to say they aren’t trying this, it’s incredibly hilarious.
They aren’t currently, and it’s clear you did not read it at all nor seem to understand the context if you did…
**Another term that gained quick currency in 2021 was “NFT” or “non-fungible token.” The advent of NFTs using blockchain technology significantly increased the liquidity of digital goods, enabling the trading of a variety of such goods at high prices and sparking conversations the world over. I see 2021 not only as “Metaverse: Year One,” but also as “NFTs: Year One” given that it was a year in which NFTs were met with a great deal of enthusiasm by a rapidly expanding user base. However, we do observe examples here and there of overheated trading in NFT-based digital goods with somewhat speculative overtones, regardless of the observed value of the content provided This, obviously, is not an ideal situation, but I expect to see an eventual right-sizing in digital goods deals as they become more commonplace among the general public, with the value of each available content corrected to their true estimated worth, and I look for them to become as familiar as dealings in physical goods.**
This is what was said, and it basically boils down to “If NFTs become commonplace in gaming and in general, we will adopt them to adapt to the new industry meta.”.
Aaaaand there is the splitting hairs I was talking about.
I already stated that it’s pretty clear that they are trying to figure out a way to put this in their games and monetize it. Not that they were already there. So you should know this is if you were keeping up at all.
Are you just here to inflate thread post count, or were you just here cause your best bud was here?
