It’s a small ad. In the shop, both choices are clearly presented to you. There’s nothing scummy here.
It’s hard to find anything that doesn’t look cute on Gnomes, imo.
Well that’s your opinion. I think not showing the $20 price tag in the feature menu on the in-game shop is scummy. so…
I don’t remember in game rewards ever going away. As a matter of fact, each Covenant has cosmetic rewards. We have hundreds of them in game. That never stopped.
And the shop has existed since Wrath.
Good Lord, the drama over a tiny ad after it’s clearly displayed elsewhere.
I swear, it’s like people look for things to complain about. Oi.
They did the same when they announced the pirate ship mount, it turned into a sad meme.
Don’t justify it for the love of god
What Drama dude? I simply Provided an opinion that you disagree with. How is that drama?
yikes yall complained till SL got delayed now your attacking blizz for giving subscribers who actually support the game whiles its being forcefully delayed and are purposely being stubborn/ignorant at the fact YOU yourselves can get it free with gold ingame.
I would tell people to stop overreacting to a transmog set, but here we are.
you can buy them separately for 20$
I said this in another thread and I’ll say it here: a handful of cosmetics in a shop hasn’t broken this game. One transmog set, 2 toys, 17 mounts, 16 pets. Over the hundreds we have available in game.
This is a business. A corporation. They’re here to make money. They’re not philanthropists. If it hasn’t broken the game since Wrath, I think we’re okay.
The costume should have been free for those that already pre-order SL as a thank you for your patience after we delayed it. Not a, Oh we delayed the thing you paid for by 2months so in the mean time here is something else you can buy from us
-edit- To be Constructive IMO it would have been way better if blizzard added an event or quest line today as something to do in the meantime with a nice reward at the end. Well we all patiently wait for the pre-patch event.
That’s because it’s a disturbing practice that needs to be curbed out of online games and no one should be supporting this rubbish ever
Unless WoW wants to drop the sub and hefty xpac costs this junk can take a hike
Don’t care stop letting them get away with predatory money grubbing behaviour
We pay a sub
We pay for xpacs
We pay for the base game
That’s well and truly enough dollars to sustain them
And people enjoy the overcharging with the WoW tokens
So, they want to present the item in the best light they can, and with limited space, they have to pick one of the dollar amounts. Putting both on there would actually confuse more people than it would help. Would you rather they post the $20 and have people show up to find that there’s one for the 6-month sub, and they already have the 6-month sub, or that they bought one and are already getting one with said 6-month sub?
Marketing, advertising, and promotions are complicated, and we are not always in on the behind-the-scenes reasons for everything they produce. I prefer to not think they are intentionally manipulating their own fanbase, but that’s just me.
Do I like the practice? Not really. But it’s here, and it has been for over a decade, and for the foreseeable future it is not going anywhere. So…deal with it. We all have to.
I disagree, They could have put a little square box in the corner of the feature menu with $20 in bold letters showing the costume on its own without the $60 game time added in.
How exactly is it “disturbing?”
It’s a corporation making money. That’s what they do. So what’s so “disturbing” about it?
And what’s “predatory” about it? You keep moving up the hyperbole ladder here.
They’re not philanthropists. Their goal is to make as much money as they can— like every other corporation out there.
If someone willingly wants to wear this…they deserve shame.
I don’t see why this is worthy of complaining, it’s just a transmog set
