[Spoilers] The Burning of Teldrassil is being ignored and hidden from new players

Darnasus was a city build at the top of Teldrassil…
Down your arrogance elf!

Are you saying without the city, no one would care about the tree? Because last time I checked, no one cared about Darnasus, I can’t even remember what it looks like anymore.

The BfA faction conflict storyline was poorly designed from the start, with the Night Elves role in it being the most egregious aspect.

The over-arching story from the War of Thorns to the final cinematic in front of Orgrimmar is a story internal to the Horde, not a two-faction story at all.

It’s already pretty hard to justify this, given that the whole expansion was presented as a two-faction story, but writing the Night Elves out of it, so that the culmination involves only Horde characters (and Anduin in an almost purely symbolic role) makes the whole thing impossible to justify.

Even if they can concoct some sort of follow up to the Night Elf part of it several years from now, that would still be true.

One can see this even during Alliance questing, as players are shown the cinematic of the Zandalari fleet destroying the Alliance fleet, not once, but twice, the reason being that there was never going to be any pay-off from the Alliance perspective in the main story, so the devs had to try to shift the focus to the Zandalari, which they were unable to do successfully.

If you didn’t wanna make your post long you should have just posted the link to my thread lul.

it consisted of a mix of grecian and asian architecture. the bank was built in a hollowed out tree, carved in the shape of a bear with leafy branches emerging from its back. a small stream ran thru it. the druid headquarters was at the top of tree and the temple, in grecian architecture, housed the leader of the night elves and her priesthood.

scattered about were asian buildings, open air. it had one tree with a glowing pink teleport gate embedded in it, that ported you down to ground level. and three docks, one to mainland kalimdor, one to stormwind and one to the exodar docks.

there were 3 villages in it, in addition to darnassus - the starting area shadowglen, dolanaar, and rutheran. rutheran was the base of the tree and where the docks were located. a total of 22,000 night elves resided on teldrassil.

There are several problems with this reasoning: Yes BFA was senseless plot-wise, but senseless or not it WAS crucial to Shadowlands, half the stuff already developed specifically for SL asset and story wise built off of the events of BFA. The staff could easily just have made the Horde more apprehensive and despising of the burning of Teldrassil and it would have driven The Horde’s character growth and set the tone for future stories, but because BFA is literally being rewritten to have mostly never happened Shadowlands is going to have HUGE holes in it’s narrative where something was SUPPOSED to be but isn’t. How does The Jailer get enough anima soul power to break free now or will he evens till do it? Who will be the new big bad boss of the next expansion? Why is Sylvanas going to the Shadowlands and how?

Those are basic story telling aspects even most inexperienced writers in these kinds of fictional works have to keep in mind, otherwise the plot makes no sense.

I fear for what the alliance will receive ( BfA 2: The final insult ), when it comes time to describe the actions of our faction, after reading these texts made for horde, on the 1st of April.

BFAs story screams mismanagement. I don’t really know, as i’m not in that writing room.

But the entire story comes off as just being poorly handled and mismanaged.

Honestly i’m not sure what to think about this; except that it’s alpha, nothing is final, and we all know a Tree still burned.

This isn’t the first time things have been retconned. Your own heroine Jaina is a murderess. Purge of Dalaran? Only Blizzard retconned it after the fact to make it Jaina sending them to arcane prisons instead of mercilessly fireballing helpless civilians.

It’s more so the intention of the choice that’s the problem. Even if they aren’t finalized, the intention of the writers is there in clear display.

And this just shows me they’re insecure about the story they wrote, maybe due to the backlash. But this is going way too far to avoid it.

I think the developers and Ion are Sylvanas Loyalists. They are organizing Sylvanas’s grand plans in Shadowlands as we speak. Sylvanas will win at the end of it all.

Nah, they keep doing this crap again and again and again. They need to hire talented people who actually care about half of their paying customers instead of propping up an old man who only plays one side.

We get it, devs. You hate the Alliance. You want to prop up the horde. Can’t have any actual mud on those huts, can we?

For people who like to RP and identify with a character they play, even tho its a game, its annoying … thats all, and depending on how far you take it emotionally it could become more than that lol, but yeah.

They changed some race intro dialogue.

Wow… Even having Illidan’s fangirl browbeating us has nothing on this.

It’s insane to see how far Blizzard’s writing has fallen. Lore and writing used to be one of their major draws in the 90s and early 00s.
