I really loved the Empire in SWTOR. The Imperial Agent, Sith Warrior and Inquisitor were really awesome stories. They cool part about being the badguys is you donât really feel bad about being a back stabbing monster because just about everyone is awful.
The other side of that is being a âLight Sideâ Sith is really entertaining because you essentially go around saying âno you cant torture those prisoners/soldiers/puppies Iâd like this empire to actually function you deranged lunaticâ
I remember how annoyed my empire guild leader was when he found out my sith character was light affinity three.
Its really fun because its less âIm a heroic Sithâ and more âplease stop being baby eating psychopaths.â
I love playing my SWTOR Imp Agent as light side. Sheâs not even particularly âgoodâ, she just figures you need all the friends you can get in this line of work, and sheâd rather write a check than shoot someone.
Bioware in general did a good job of making choices that have consequences, but donât throw off the main plot. But SWTOR is much more linear than WoW.
There was speculation that the limits of the engine forced them to design in such a linear fashion rather than it being an actual choice.
Light side Sith warrior was really great. You got to be evil but a functional lawful evil. Dark side Sith warrior was just being Darth Vader, I was shocked by how little I liked dark side and how much I loved light side.
Imperial Agent was equally cool on both play throughs and I think it was their best one of all the classes in the game.
I could not get into any republic storyline. They were all pretty lame.
There are 3 main reasons I can think of to side with Sylvanas:
-
OOC: youâre doing both chains because you can/want to (there might be a reward).
-
OOC: youâre on a normal server, you donât care about the story much, you think Sylvanas is âcoolâ and/or are amused by how dumb WoW is compared to your favorite Netflix show (which you donât know is also just as bad because youâre illiterate).
-
IC: Your character trusts Sylvanasâ motivations for killing them e.g. raise them as a Dark Ranger or whatever, and finds undeath preferable to life-long mind control via Old God presence, because death is not always âthe endâ in WoW.
Now the story is bad, and I love it for how bad it is⌠I will always be here to laugh at it with you all. Itâs actually still bad keeping the setting in context IMO.
edit: for example, the whole âwe donât believe we can beat THREAT without resorting to HORRIBLE THINGSâ is always a tired motivation, especially in WoW. But perhaps IC, some characters believe it, not sure.
I donât imagine many sided w/ her IC though??
âTHERE ARE DOZENS OF US!â
Iâm laughing too hard.
The official scene of the relationship between Sylvanas and the Horde hero!
Kazimoar.
The option ends in you trying to end the world that you JUST saved, and also kill yourself. Your explanation of that is âWell itâs cuz you donât like Sylvanasâ? How does that explain the pattern of your actions, or your sudden suicidal tendencies?
I didnât really get a âdestroy the worldâ thing so much as âdeath is better than life, donât you agree, living person?â ⌠which is odd enough IMO
Its just so ridiculous the way she loses her mind over literally nothing. The more I see it the more hilarious it gets.
The only consolation to that plot point is that Saurfang seemed to know it would happen. He knew how batpoop insane she was. He never planned on winning, just into goading her into a tantrum.
Doesnât âdeath is better than lifeâ pretty much translate to that though?
I mean whatâs the real difference between destroying the world, and killing everything on it?
I guess I know too many misanthropes who would love a meteor to wipe out humanity to âsave the worldâ lmao
A big problem with their foundation is that she means âundeathâ and theyâve given undeath this sort of edge over life against certain things â so somehow following her you have to believe that if everyone had gray skin and red eyes things would be better off
Itâs so weird.
Isnât it painful when someone starts telling a story IRL and it goes nowhere. â⌠and thatâs why I use paper plates instead of owning dishes.â So awkward. This has been that as a game narrative.
Of all the characters in the game to be concerned about receiving consistent writing you choose the player character?
Its just so ridiculous the way she loses her mind over literally nothing. The more I see it the more hilarious it gets.
Narcissistic psychopathy has that effect.
Of all the characters in the game to be concerned about receiving consistent writing you choose the player character?
⌠Yes? Arguably they HAVE the most consistent writing, as far as things that happened to them mattering in the greater narrative.
Also instead of just stopping the argument, which I understand would pain you physically but still, your counterpoint is âit doesnât even matter anywayâ? Then why argue?
Do you enjoy arguing?
I donât dislike it except with people like you. I find it tedious. You donât argue to make points, you argue to keep the argument going. You never have an actual point. You just look for stuff to contradict, and keep at it no matter what.
Not a good personality trait. Itâs somehow boring, and annoying, at the same time.
