Personally, while I don’t want Sylvanas to be redeemed, I am happy about the new direction of the Jailer.
Finally, another big bad that just wants to destroy reality for the sake of destroying reality. That is what WoW was always good at. You have something here Blizzard, just no plot twists with the Jailer and we are good.
Honestly probably one of the worst cinematics lore-wise this game has had.
Meh, lore is long-gone. I like cool-looking big bad that we get to focus on that just wants to do bad things because he is a bad guy. I’m simple, that is all I care about.

So.
I liked the actually cinematography, I liked the voice acting and the music. All well put together.
I like that the Jailer is a seriously bad guy, and his armor looks neat.
I like that Sylvanas has her soul back, because I’m a sucker for the Buffy-Angel-Im-a-tortured-soul-please-punish-me story arc, and she’s still alive so there are more stories to tell.
BUUUUUUUUUT
Her actions, and her reasons for FINALLY turning on Zovaal at literally the last minute is ‘…and Dany kind of forgot about the Iron Fleet…’ Season 8 GoT level of nonsensical stupidity.
I mean, for crying out loud, for a character who gets her intelligence puffed up as much as it is, DIDN’T SEE THIS COMING? THIS VERY OBVIOUS OUTCOME?
For Elune’s sake, the Jailors ENTIRE FRELLING MOTIFF IS ABOUT CONTROLLING AND SUBJIGATING PEOPLE!

My god, this is WWE-level writing, it’s just so frustrating to me how nonsensical it is.
at least sylv vs bolvar lk made sense in hindsight, due to both being “blessed” by the jailor this …this is just, bad, lazy writing, even if she makes a grand sacrifice to stop the jailor in 9.2 or even if they chop her head off 2 sec after the cinematic.
if you wanted this to have any weight, the cinematic should of been sylv holding off the players/heroes, jailer as he’s leaving “well here’s your reward” gives sylv back her soul fragment, her realizing how much she has been duped as the players cut her down
What direction? His only purpose was revealed, and that is to get his new tier 22 armor set this season.
That’s what was shown in the cinematics, do you see the dislikes in that video?
So far I don’t know which is the worst, N’Zoth’s cinematics or we see that the jailer drop your new set armor.
I think Sire Denathrius had a better part in this expansion as a villain.

Sargeras and N’zoth, the two big bads of the last expansions, both wanted to do this.

The only thing he wanted is to free death, and what he did, he had the set armor called death, from tier 22 for this season, excellent, there is no more ridiculous villain ambition like the Jailer.

My only hope now tyrande can re-kill Sylvanus and send her into the maw like she deserves. Torture her for information then to death she goes. No redemption, no loa rebirth, no nothing except a (well deserved) obliteration for the innumerable crimes she’s committed.
Story writers have no spine, are creatively bankrupt, and self insert too much. Who are they writing for?

Yeah… honestly, I already felt shaky about 9.0 as it was… I actually have not really touched retail (aside from helping a friend who got bugged out) in a long while.
The Garrosh and Sylvanas stuff really just sealed the thought that I have 100% no interest in retail WoW anymore. It’s just not the game for me anymore and what respect I had for the character writing is trampled.
Personally I think I will be sticking with TBCC for the foreseeable future and at this point, given the surveys that went out on Classic not to long ago, I would much rather cross my fingers for Classic+ content someday being a thing rather than returning to retail.
That isn’t to say that perhaps next expansion will pull me back, but I think for me, personally, today just made me wash my hands of Shadowlands.
Sargeras was not an end-boss of Legion and N’zoth wasn’t a “Here’s the big bad” being shown like Illidan, Arthas, Deathwing, and Garrosh were.
Seems like a very weird arbitrary distinction for the villain to have to be the end boss in order to count. It doesn’t matter that we never fought Sargeras; he was the primary villain for the entire expansion of Legion.
I’d argue it was pretty obvious N’zoth was the big bad the moment Azshara’s Warbringer short came out. Even then, he’s been present in the game, in some form or another, since BFA’s opening patch.
