Can we assume that the Lich King title is completely gone with the Helms destruction?
They were a neutral organization. That happened. Canonically. It was a done deal. Members of the Horde and Alliance were members of the Silver Hand because Blizzard writes every story for the Alliance. Then, when BFA came, the Silver Hand quit being neutral. Now, the Lich King is no longer neutral because Blizzard writes this and every story for the Alliance. Just look at Thrall and Baine sitting on the floor while Jaina administers the map with Alliance Bolvar.
Do you care about spoilers?
Lay it on me!
Boooooooooo!
I wonder whoās going to be wearing it next?
Does this bother you?
Gut tells me whoever is going to replace the Jailer, which will suck since I like the Lich King being an Azerothian power.
I have a sneaky suspicion they are going to make either Bolvar or Arthas the new Jailer. I hope not, but itās a sinking feeling I got.
Yeah. I didnāt think Arthas was a possibility at first, but after Afterlives, it seems a safe bet.
That never actually left the Alliance.
Arguably, even if your spin was true, that means Horde characters and players joined an Alliance Organizationā¦ DUN DUN DUN!
I have a question: do we actually know that Bolvar has officially taken over leadership of the Ebon Blade? From what Iāve seen, heās styled as "Highlord Bolvar Fordragon, ", not "Bolvar Fordragon, ". āHighlordā was his title before the Wrathgate, it may be that heās simply returned to using it now that the Helm has been shattered. For comparison, Darion is currently styled on the beta as āHighlord Darion Mograine, .ā I realize that Darion may be inclined to defer to Bolvar due to both Bolvarās status as former Lich King (remember, Bolvar specifically got Darion killed so he could raise him again as a loyal Horseman in Legion after Darion made a big show of saying he wasnāt bound to him) and out of respect for Bolvarās greater age and experience, but I havenāt seen anything yet that specifically calls out Bolvar taking over the Ebon Blade from Darion.
As for Bolvar and Anduin: Iām not at all surprised that the former Regent of Stormwind would want to save the former Prince that he was sworn to protect. He helped raise Anduin, itās only natural that he would still have some attachment there and want to help him, especially since his own daughter is of a similar age and has befriended Anduin in his absence. I would think it more strange if he didnāt have any feelings on the matter.
Bolvar is leading the Ebon Blade during the events of Shadowlands.
The issue at hand is not a desire to save Anduin. The issue at hand is that the formerly neutral leader of the Ebon Blade is now strictly an alliance leader of the Ebon Blade.
I honestly donāt see the issue. Thereās nothing stating that Bolvar has to be nonpartisan between the two factions or not leaning one way or another. As long as he provides quests to both factions on equal footing, he can tell Horde players they suck for reasons. It wonāt hurt my feelings.
Youāre not sick of every single quest npc in the game being Alliance?
I envy you.
I would love it if we could have a neutral city built by Horde with Horde NPCs leading it. Iām not going to hold my breath though.
This is an atrocity, Iām cancelling my subscription if theyāre going to force such garbage.
How can Alliance players be okay with this? Bolvar isnāt just Bolvar anymore- he spent a long time as the Lich King. In that time, he gave up his Alliance connections, was fully associated with the Ebon Blade, murdered several people, killed the red dragons, attacked Lightās Hope among other things.
For him to pretend he is the same Bolvar is very OOC. Letās be honest here- this isnāt associating him with the Alliance in its true sense, its associating him to God-Emperor Anduin, just one of many in a series of several characters now on the Anduin bandwagon. You may be okay with it now, but itāll backfire later when everything he does is for Anduin alone, and heās always being an Anduin yes-man.
Ofcourse, itās bad for them to make a solely Alliance/Anduin-leaning character the guide for every player in the Shadowlands too.
Events change people. Bolvar has been the Lich King for at least a fourth of the time heās been alive in character, and for longer than he existed as a humie OOC. Bolvar is more than an Alliance character. Heās a fan favorite for ebon blade players, who are both Horde and Alliance.
Nevermind if Bolvar takes the Ebon Blade to the Alliance like Tyralyon did the Silver Hand in the expansion after Shadowlands.
ā¦and I just realized that my previous post ate part of the character titles I wrote out due to coding, sorry about that. I was trying to point out that both Bolvar and Darion are styled āHighlordā, but neither is styled āHighlord of the Ebon Bladeā for their character plate. I am familiar with the artwork you posted, and I can understand the Ebon Blade following Bolvar for Shadowlands specifically, but I have not seen anything suggesting that he is officially taking over as itās permanent leader. Personally I donāt want him to. The Ebon Blade was formed by Darion, heās still part of it, and heās got a stronger history with the player death knight than Bolvar does. Iām only willing to tolerate following Bolvar because of the specific circumstances involving Sylvanas and the Helm, otherwise my death knight would gladly punch him in the face and tell him to get lost for all the garbage he put the Ebon Blade through in Legion. Also, of course, Darion doesnāt have the same history of being a major Alliance character that Bolvar does, and I agree with you that the Ebon Blade should not get pulled out of their solidly neutral position between the Alliance and Horde.
I think Darion should remain in command of the Ebon Blade, and if he decides they should follow Bolvarās advice and counsel because of the current crisis and Bolvarās involvement in it, Iād be okay with that as long as Bolvar does not take over in the long run.
