Redshirt guy has been pretty reliable for years. He’s not a dev, but he’s got connections.
Wowhead isn’t any more official than Redshirt Guy is. It’s a fan site who’s credibility has been built up for years, same for Redshirt dude.

I don’t think they use Teldrassil that way, well, maybe players won’t know everything in the beginning. But the short stories, the cinemas, everything will be preserved, everyone will be able to read about it, and if blizz doesn’t want to completely lose a community that’s still big, they’ll make sure they keep their word.
Several people at Blizz have already said that the next few YEARS will revolve around Teldrassil, this addon and beyond, it may not always be the main theme, but blizz intends to use Teldrassil as a great hook for many things, probably not only for night elves.
What connection?
Also WoWhead is not just ONE dude saying stuff, it’s a bunch of people who have a background for doing a good work.
He works for BlizzPlanet, which is a fansite like WoWhead. Except BlizzPlanet is for all of Blizzard’s IPs wheres WoWhead focuses on WoW.
they are probably just refering to tyrande being crazy and getting killed off because of it and sylvanas and the horde being praised as heroes for doing it going forward
he was merely refering to things that were datamined which he most likely found on wowhead. he was talking about what other people datamined, likely from wowhead.
He didn’t just make something up, you can find the things he was talking about on wowhead. It’s just that he mentioned the “Ignoring Teldrassil” and trying to make people forget about it pretty well, so I posted this screenshot.
I know you feel encouraged to only see the negative now, and I’m not blaming you for that, but we should see what else comes first, it hasn’t even been made ardenwald playable yet, so let’s wait and see, okay? We don’t even know how the scenarios and memories play out.
yea, that has always worked well for me
If Ardenwald is bad…yeah, i´ll even support you and fill the forum with threads i Promise
Even though I’m a Horde player and post with a Horde avatar, in my eyes Teldrassil is something that needs to be dealt with it.
Tyrande isn’t going to die lol. Why do you keep saying that?
If anything they’re going to kill off Glenn to get us Tess.
NOW I see it’s datamined after confirming trough a much more credible source of information than just this one dude making a comment.
Also sorry If I’m incapable of taking your whinny posts seriously anymore. They kinda got old like…a year ago.
But this time it sounds like a valid reason to be concerned and FOR GOD’S SAKE, it’s kinda hard to answer your posts if you edit it everytime.
Now. I hated Teldrassil’s burning, it was nonsensical, Sylvanas acted like a spoiled brat and it was clearly cheap shock value.
But retconing it is even more nonsensical given the fact a lot of things happen BECAUSE of it. Tyrande’s entire Night Warrior arc revolved around this, an entire warfront was about it, and even on the Horde’s side of the story Teldrassil was reffered a lot.
Even in the Mak’gora cutscene. It was a nonsensical and stupid part of a nonsensical, stupid plot. But it’s an IMPORTANT nonsensical and stupid part.
Also how exactly is Blizzard planning to retcon this? Like this was a huge thing a year ago. Alliance players where mad as hell with reason, and Horde players where also mad as hell because they where being railroaded into following a tyranical villain warchief again, you don’t just erase that.
That’s horrible.
In my eyes it depends on how it is handled, if it is used as the sole right to say to the horde: “you suck,” then yes, but it can also be used differently. A memory cult doesn’t have to end up dragging someone through the mud every time.
I could imagine scenarios in which Teldrassil would be used as a memorial to all of Azeroth. It’s not just the Horde, it’s the Alliance too that needs to grow beyond that, and even if it sucks for Alliance players, if you don’t want another conflict to come up, you need solutions that aren’t always good solutions for one side, they’re compromises.
For you maybe. I’d like them not to ignore it and actually address it in story. If that takes years good, it means they’ll do it right.
Well… I mean… 13% of all level 120 characters are Night Elves. They’re the second most played race behind the Blood Elves.
Because it’s obvious. With Teldrassil being forgotten about, it’s only Tyrande that’s still vengeful and crazy for no reason. She has been portrayed as crazy and consumed by vengeance, also Shandris has been set up as the new Night Elf leader.
We also know that Night Warriors usually seem to die because of those powers, and Tyrande is confirmed to struggle with them.
Yea I usually comment something but add a few things when more comes to my mind after posting it
They are not exactly retconning it. Instead they are just ignoring it and pretending that it never happened - also hiding it from new players.
I would’ve liked it to be addressed too - but well that ship has more than sailed at this point.
Seems like they’re trying to get that number closer to 0% …
Tyrande is still the chosen of Elune though. Elune gave her those powers lol. She’s not going to let her die.
If Blizzard hated Night Elves you wouldn’t be meeting Cenarius in Shadowlands and they wouldn’t be expanding Tyrande’s story even more.
I mean… was Teldrassil really much worse than you Queen betraying you to bring about the end of the entire planet? I’d argue that one was worse. Burning Legion did way more horrible stuff to the Night Elves than the Horde.
Multiple years of focus will only ingrain more animosity toward night elves from the horde playerbase. Human exceptionalism memes will get replaced with night elf whatever.
That’s because of the inability of the Horde players to deal with it and shouldn’t be a reason not to do so, I mean, we also played “Orc Fatigue” for years.
And pls, read again, i wrote :
with maintheme i mean the center focus
Good point. Everyone still thinks poorly of orcs after that. That’s the night elves future if this focus on “hey guys that event where the horde is constantly reminded of how evil they were” isn’t handled with a surgeon’s care.
You mean like they wouldn’t just let teldrassil burn down, give Night Elf lands to the Horde, send the majority of the race to wow hell to suffer forever and then make their entire revenge plot consist of killing 1 Val’kyr?
That doesn’t mean that it has to be positive though. Again, Tyrande right now is more like a villain.
