[Spoilers] Burning of Teldrassil ignored

Forsaken are a political entity that dedicate themselves to Sylvanas. Just because she raised them doesn’t make them one of her faction.

Alonsus is Forsaken. Tehd Shoemaker, Lilian Voss, Zelling, various dark rangers. And they’ve all fought to help protect the Horde.

Before the Storm kind of proves beyond a shadow of the doubt that it isn’t true.

Forsaken are also a racial identity, not just a political one.

Yea, to prevent players from knowing that Teldrassil ever happened. Eventually, less and less people will know and/or care.

While I am disappointed, I do feel like this was an effort to streamline the story of Kul Tiras, and try and make the Horde a bit more marketable, instead of out and out malice against the Night Elven playerbase (for once).

That said, I think it presents a new challenge. One that you, of all people, are uniquely suited for. Never stop talking about it. Never give it the oppurtunity to be ignored, or glossed over. And when the new kids ask what all the fuss is about, direct them to the cinematics, and the novellas, and videos of the War of Thorns. It’s not like it can actually be hidden. And it’s not like there’s ever a lack of oppurtunity to discuss the sins and atrocities of the Horde.

You mean, yelled by the greatest apothecary ever? The greatest of them all a decade ago, and still is to this day! The one and only one, our dear regretted Putress!

This is such a :3 moment.

Well, the general spirit of the post also extends to everyone. Teldrassil being glossed over for the sake of brevity is the opposite of the time to stop talking about it, when it’s the catalyst for an entire expansion. Much like we still have to occasionally field questions from new players about timetravelling Orcs, and the nature of AU Draenor.

idk why people so mad
its only yet another retcon

It’s not a retcon though, all the negative things are still there for the Night Elves such as:

  • Their lands and home destroyed
  • them being near extinct
  • The Horde holding some of their land
  • Their innocents in the maw to suffer forever

They only want people to forget about it

A quote from Kyalin in her Night Elf Discord that I think bears posting here as well.

“And I suppose I will add, while I’m thinking about it. I know you get a lot of negative attention for the doom and gloom, and there are times where I think you take it too far - but you wouldn’t be getting that from our community if doom and gloom wasn’t an effective prediction strategy for the last decade. This ties back again to what our expectations should be, and the unreasonability of the argument that we should simply hold commentary. It is not our responsibility, as consumers, to be more deferential to Blizzard and be more optimistic in the face of data that doesn’t support that optimism. It’s Blizzard’s responsibility to show us why that feeling of doom and gloom is wrong, and ultimately, to sell us their product.”

People like to rag on the Night Elf community for operating off of the patterns we experience. Why should any Night Elf fan expect something positive when history seems content to repeat itself?

Maybe they’re doing this all because at the end of Shadowlands Elune actually does something lol.

Like Night Elves have lost everything and then BAM, Elune makes an appearance like she did with Ysera, but in front of everyone.

I think if that happened people would take the Night Elves more seriously since they’ve witnessed the act of a goddess. But that will never happen.

I think it’s more likely that Sylvanas and Nathanos will return to the Horde now that their crimes have been whitewashed and those in the Alliance that still want justice (Tyrande) will be killed off early into Shadowlands.

They’re not going to kill off Tyrande.

If you’re so sure of this fact then prove it.

they almost definitely will.

Hopefully it will be in a good cinematic though, but knowing blizz it will be in a low effort ingame cutscene like always for the night elves.

They can’t kill off Tyrande. If they kill off Tyrande they need to explain how she lost the trust of Elune between the Night Warrior and her death.

But why change the narrative for new players in the first place? Seems really weird if they don’t have some sort of overarching plan for it.

Elune abandoned the Night Elves and Tyrande to side with the Horde and Sylvanas instead.

easy blizzard quality writing.
