[SPOILERS] Baine rescue cinematic

They had Saurfang react to it in Old Soldier, so it is supposed to be part of “why we must rebel”, but otherwise I can’t remember it being talked about at all outside of Darkshore.

nods

Though Old Soldier was released early on, and with the recent ingame retconning/rearranging to the events Lost Honor now takes place after the Battle of Dazarlor.

Yet another sad cinematic. It was nice to see Thrall finally take some semblance of responsibility and kinda sorta maybe actually make up with Jaina, but the overarching problem remains and Thrall spells it out.

We’re going to do this dance again just you watch.

Its gonna be fun as a Male Human Paladin like myself

They are so obviously building to a faction merge. Not surprising considering that gameplay-wise, there’s huge problems with the current system. Barely any Alliance guilds raiding… barely any PvPers, etc.

They’re gonna make the two factions together in 9.0. Then, for PvP, just have tiny factions like League of Arathor vs. Defilers pop up every now and then to justify it.

I don’t think they’re gonna merge per se. I do think that there is going to be a formal peace or some such established that’ll be the story justification for players to do cross faction shenanigans.

“What’s different this time?”

“We are.”

that doesn’t make a damn bit of sense.

I am glad to see peace seeking Jaina again.

Hey imagine what it must be like to be doing this as a Zandalari troll.

You literally just joined the Horde after your king was killed by Jaina(presumably) and the Alliance. Now you go down into the Hordes capital and are not only supposed to work with two Orcs who you’ve never met to save a Tauren that you kinda know but not really, but are also working alongside two Alliance members who were complicit in your kings’ demise.

That’s gotta be all kinds of awkward.

Anything for the “shame tally”?

Also: you know, this whole expansion is feeling like a D&D adventure where the DM had this vision of how everything was supposed to be and is confused when the players hated his prize NPC and latched onto that coool little “mass slaughter” moment way more strongly than he intended…

The Zandalari joined the Horde at the worse possible time.

Somehow I actually feel kind of okay about this cinematic. Thrall apologizing for his negligence felt long overdue and, frankly, kind of vindicating. I wish more Warcraft characters (and by extension the writers) would admit their mistakes like that.

(Plus that bicep touch? Oooh baby I know it’ll never in ten million years happen because Aggra but I got kind of excited nonetheless :,) )

8.0 Jaina: Beware of… ME.
8.2 Jaina: Caresses Thrall’s bicep

Yeah, a cinematic that is more about Jaina than Braine. As usual, we go from a Horde villain bat to “neutral” content that is about Alliance lore characters.

I don’t know. Apparently someone who didn’t participate in things like Theramore needs to explicitly apologize to someone who committed the purge of Dalaran who, conversely, only needs a vague “there is blood on all our hands”. More civilians died in Dalaran than Theramore.

That’s what sticks in the craw about this whole Jaina redemption, was the that apparently Blizzard felt it didn’t require any real acknowledgement of then things she has done to the Horde. Meanwhile, the Horde is all “we are so sorry we are the villains”.

(I c what u did there)

Poor Dragons. They get no love from the devs. And now, they get no love in the story.

Ah well. At least ThrallxJaina makes room for my (prepares to be crucified by the StellagosaxValtrois crowd) StellaxKalec ship. Time to rebuild that Blue Dragonflight.

… you want more stuff getting burnt down? Cause this is how you get stuff burnt down.

Look. Dragons are in a tight spot. I’m not sure anymore if they’re the one race the devs hate more than Night Elves, or if Night Elves haven’t shared the entirely same fate simply from the (very) small protection being playable affords them.

It’s time to un-sterilize them, and have them get on with starting new Dragon families.

There’s plenty of other Blue Dragons that can help with that though.
