Split EBGs into Two Modes

I want to preface this post with: I know Blizzard probably doesn’t have the time, manpower, allocated funds, or maybe it’s just hell dealing with ancient spaghetti code when it comes to EBGs. I get it, it’s not rated, doesn’t make money, and investors need to stay happy. Still, I’d like to add my suggestion to the already massive pile of them.

Can we split EBGs in to two modes?

  1. Premade 40 man raid vs 40 man raid
-No backfills, you bring who you bring

  2. Solo queue 40 man raid vs 40 man raid
    -Backfills as needed, no groups

I have no idea what this would be like for queue times for each mode but, personally, I really enjoy fighting other large organized teams and I get that a couple times a night when I play. I played New World when it came out (plz no judge T_T) and I loved the war mechanic. The best memories I have are during close matches between two coordinated armies.

All for it, but the queue sync premade groups aren’t looking for a challenge. They like stomping pugs.

As long as Blizzard maintains the solo queue and prevents premades from sync queueing into it when they inevitably abandon their own mode to chase after the pugs again. :man_shrugging:

I think premades are fine vs other premades.
Unfortunately this isn’t why people form them. They sync queues specifically to stomp the other team without any competition.

But if they were to implement epic premades I think they should pair groups against each other. If Horde queues with two 5-man groups, Alliance should also have two 5-man groups.

I run with RR, DJL, and TFS. From my personal experience, I’ve had the most fun in EBGs running in premades with them vs other premades. When the match starts and we see familiar names on the other team, it’s game face and the matches are awesome. I joined premade communities not just to get away from the toxicity of pugs but also for the chance to fight the other premades for that sweet War Game nostalgia and dopamine!

Again, this is all personal experience. I can’t speak for other communities and games that I’m not in.

Honestly, my biggest wish would be 40 man premade vs premade with rating and hot rewards. New World wars had streamers out the wazzo and something like that in WoW could generate exposure and revenue.

There is a reason new world is dead right now.

For sure and I’m not going to deny that there isn’t some of that, but it’s the clear minority. Beyond Blizzard’s recent acknowledgment of players avoiding other players or groups, I have seen it happen many times. Either joining a group that only had 10-15 people because 20+ players had left before the match started OR being in the group already and watching 20+ people leave. The experience is absolutely miserable.

I’d be for that, but we already have a ton of competing content. What COULD be interesting if Blizzard cared is todo some events that focused on epic BGs. Maybe a weekend or week tourney or just a way for players to organize war-games for epics. RBGs are already suffering, so having another rated bracket for bgs doesn’t make much sense, but maybe there is a way to make it work that the ‘decent’ players that want todo epics competitively have an outlet.

That’s always going to be a possibility I think, although I imagine it would be much more fickle to try and get a large amount of people in without wasting a ton of time. That’s why I’d LOVE to see tangible rewards for premade vs premade mode. Make it rated, tmog, gold, mounts, pvp currency, what have you.

I’ve had the misfortune of queuing into 2 premades against each other in Ashran and it turned into a 2 hour stand-off. Terrible experience for everyone not involved with them.

They need to add a game mode that encourages premades like GW2’s Eternal Battlegrounds and ESO’s Cyrodiil. They would have to do something about server instability to pull that off though, the game as it is can’t even handle Tarren Mill vs Southshore.

You’re not wrong. If Blizzard can yoink mechanics from other games (dynamic flight, player housing, etc) then they can look at all the large scale pvp content in others games and mimic it in their own form.

Oh they do it all the time. Most Blizzard games are their own versions of previously existing games. Overwatch is Team Fortress, Heroes of the Storm is Dota, World of Warcraft is Everquest. I don’t think there’s anything wrong with that, and there’s certainly nothing wrong with implementing modes that exist in other games.

I don’t think it was wars, well…maybe in the early days (those were ROUGH), but holy crap that game as a whole was as buggy af. I’m sure Blizz could pick up something from its downfall if it made enough money. :smiling_face_with_tear:

I’ve been reading through this forum for the past few days and I’m starting to get a better understanding of what’s really going on. It seems like there aren’t that many actual PvP players in epic battlegrounds and in PVP overall. That’s probably why, when I posted about reaching Honor Level 30 and beyond, I didn’t realize how small the active PvP player base really is.

From what I’m seeing, epic battlegrounds are mostly dominated by premade groups fighting other premades. Even if both teams only have partial premades, those players are usually the ones controlling the outcome of the match. As someone who queued solo and played more casually, I didn’t notice this dynamic until I hit Honor Level 30. That’s when I started to realize there are essentially two brackets, one for more random players with long queue time, and one where premades dominate with short queue time.

What I still don’t understand is why this isn’t explained anywhere. There’s no real information about this split and players are just thrown into it without knowing what’s changed or why it suddenly feels different.

Cleaning up old posts!

Well, I can tell you my game face is thinking strategically what the other team may try to do as different premade groups tend to have certain strategies they use. I think I still look pretty though. :3

Maybe I’m one of the few who do it for the lil chance to get a challenge because I am 100% a horrible player with crap reaction time.

I guess I am mentally ill to enjoy it, but here I am for all the world to see me in my sickness.

Common myth, most premades prefer facing other premades.

So true. I want a mode where it’s guaranteed instead of fishing games.

Edit: Maybe I misread that. I can’t speak for others, but I do hence why I made this suggestion post.

I have seen it happen a bunch of times. I have screenshots.

No one believes your lies but you guys.

You and the other 5 people that cry on the forums everyday?

You know what is actually funny about you guyz, you try to argue against every point made, regardless of whether it contradicts your previous comments.

  • You guys argue you don’t leave. You do.
  • You guys argue you don’t dodge. You do.
  • And that your win rates are legit.

Which is it?

What levels of cheating do you have to do to get these win rates bud?

Imgur

And you and the same 5 people defend your cheating while hopping on fresh alts todo the same. Obvious to everyone but you guys.

I’m going to be delighted when you guys get banned.
