That’s not why the whistle was changed. Forum rumor started that. It had to do with the other whistles in the game and how the coding isn’t separate, or something to that effect. I don’t know the exact details, but basically they changed it for other whistles to make more sense and that’s how we lost the correct sound for the emote.

Spit doesn’t bother me. It’s the people who do /lol and /rofl that are annoying to me in BGs. It’s like they have it macro to all their abilities.
From what I seen there’s a favorite twitch streamer that encourages /spit if your on a store mount. 🤷😕
The game enables this behavior by providing a means of being disrespectful towards others whether its with /spit, /lol, /chicken, /taunt and other emotes and with multiple toys.
But it also has even more ways of expressing positive/respectful emotes: /clap, /kneel, /bow, /congratulate and many others.
There’s a time and place for everything, even the bad stuff, in a role playing game and even if the RP-stuff isn’t your thing Blizz leaves it up to us to make our own choices.

Never cared for that emote myself. Never use it. I always preferred /pat. More condescending and hygienic.

I totally agree. Spitting is dangerous too, that disgusting habit can help spread the tortollanvirus.

Lets us spit on rude players. 
I thought the spit emote came about like when you’re battling (what is it, warfronts, or battlegrounds, or something like that) and you spit on their corpse. Insult to the faction or whatever…
Other than using it for that, that’s just gross…
