You have no idea what led to this discussion. If you don’t want to read the previous posts, then stop wasting time. It’s ridiculously stupid to jump into a long thread with multiple conversations and then criticize somebody on your own ignorance. Stop being an opportunistic vulture.
I’d actually hazard a guess that very few of them are. The people listing their essentia so high are the people seeking to take advantage of the price bubble. They know exactly what they’re doing and why they’re doing it. I doubt that many of them are planning to get their rank 7 until the price drops after they’ve made off with their cut.
I think the people complaining about legendary prices are the people who never put in the investment to be able to craft their important legendaries and who aren’t putting in the effort now to farm essentia in order to fund the legendaries. If they weren’t willing to invest in gathering materials for the past year in order to craft their own legendaries I don’t see why they’d suddenly start now.
That’s not the main point of this thread, so even if you’re replying to a specific post don’t get unnecessarily confused.
The point is Blizzard is encouraging an environment of spending massive amounts of gold to gain gear that’s deemed essential. You asked my proof for this, and the proof is obvious to anybody with their head out of the sand. People have been questioning the legendary desicions since launch, and Blizzard has addressed them while doing nothing. They’re making alot of money via tokens, and if you need to think extra hard about why they would want to do that, then you have all the special time in the world.
Message received then. If my reward for reading through your 180 post thread is just going to be more vitriol from you then I think I’ll pass. Have fun in your thread my dude.
You already spent over 20 minutes here. The only thing you’re passing is the 2nd grade if that’s your argument.
And this wasn’t in response to you at all either.

vitriol
I woke up today around 11pm, nothing like a little vitriol to start your day

The only vitriol here is a result of people suddenly being incredibly offended that they really had no idea of the way the world works. It’s common. People live in a little bubble, and when that bubble pops, it gets messy pretty quickly.

A couple of points I’d like to make:
- Nobody is forcing me to buy the upgrade, but when such an upgrade is tied to the most powerful piece of gear you have, it feels like you have an obligation to upgrade it. I’m not a psychologist but that seems pretty logical.
- Blizzard doesn’t control auction house prices, but they know how economies work and they designed this desicion knowing the majority (read: majority, not necessarily you) of players will spend upwards of $100 on a gear upgrade that rewards you with a 0.7%* increase.
- Yes, I know that I can wait a few weeks or months before I buy the upgrade. That’s not my issue. My issue is that Blizzard absolutely knew what would happen, and designed a system that ensured they would make thousands upon thousands of dollars for a feature that has absolutely no impact whatsoever on gameplay.
Nice of you to dismantle your whole argument so that the rest of us don’t have to. Thank you!
Upgrading my 262 helm to a 291 helm was over a 300 dps increase for me. I also only payed 2k for it because I reached out to a tailor on my server who had the rank and provided the mats and tipped.

You realize though, this is definitively vitriol lol

Keep reading only the first sentence of every paragraph you come across. I offered grounding points that people might side with, and then I refuted them.
Lots of people here who don’t use their brains.
My ring was 150k, no idea where these threads are popping up at 800k a piece. Did they look at the ah in the first 5 minutes of being able to craft them then rampage knee jerk all the way to the forums to rage?

You realize though, this is definitively vitriol lol
vɪtriɒlɪk ) adjective [usu ADJ n] If you describe someone’s language or behavior as vitriolic, you disapprove of it because it is full of bitterness and hate, and so causes a lot of distress and pain . [disapproval]
The flexibility of the English language is amazing, isn’t it?

Indeed!
So then you are both right and using different definitions, that’s fun

Apparently not well considering the poor reception of this thread.

Ah, right, because the hallmark of a controversial idea is the unanimous praise it receives. Go pick up a history book, might do you some good.
Why do people base their arguments as though day 1, or even hour 1 legendary prices are the baseline?
I was paying like 50k for my 235s and 262’s after a couple weeks in 9.0 and 9.1 respectively. Even if you’re Limit level, spending 800k on a legendary is trolling, they literally floor in the first day to the point where mine only cost 140k for a good slot (ring) and when I eventually upgrade my bear legendary and/or craft Unity, I’ll be incredibly surprised if I’m paying 100k for that slot.

Because some people have the unique and special gift of understanding that opportunistic corporations often take advantage of small windows of time when trying to maximize profit.

Well, yeah. If every ordinary joe has destroyed your entire thread multi times over, that’s usually pretty indicative of a weak argument overall and poorly reasoned points.
