When I find greens on mobs, I obviously vendor whale, boar and wolf stuff, but when I get greens that players would actually find useful, I’m still not 100% sure if it will sell before the deposits overtake the item’s value.
Say you find green cloth gloves of the eagle that require level 63 to use. Is there an addon that asks Wowhead what level 63 quest rewards have to offer so I can know if I should just vendor the item?
This is a non-negligible amount of assumptions and checks to compare a random “of the Bandit” belt against all the quest rewards around that level to then try and offer up a relevant AH price based upon how good it may or may not be…
The reality is most folks don’t even make this check themselves and also don’t thoroughly plan out their questing to hit up every possible reward. That means you may well be able to see an “of the Bandit” item for 20-40g without much struggle despite there being a very good, if not definitively better, quest reward at that level.
No such addon exists. You could use an AH addon like TSM and look at average sale rates of the item in question, but that’s about as close you can get. Considering the big “first wave” of leveling has come and gone, those mid 60s greens are much less valuable than they were a few months ago – just worth disenchanting mats at this point. If you’re honestly worried about losing gold to deposits, you should just vendor it.
