Blue mage. Your talking about blue mage.
That’s the class that got turned into a mini game instead of a real class. And they’ve even talked about doing it again to more classes. Like Beast Master.
Your post literally made me laugh out loud.
I’m glad you enjoyed it.
Your friend isn’t playing samurai correctly, then. I mained Sam for a while, btw. 3 big jobs were SAM, DRK, AST.
Basically, if you’re playing SAM right, you have a gauge for “Kenki” that you’re constantly filling, and if you’re doing it correctly, this gauge fills WAY faster than you can ever spend it on your bigger longer cooldown moves that use it, so you’ll be weaving an OGC that uses it in-between every 2-3 GCDs.
You also have a 30s cooldown OGCD free damage move, and a bunch of other builders you throw in-between. SAM is one of the most weave-intensive jobs to actually play correctly.

Here’s the difference between FFXIV and WoW.
WoW is a recipe that’s extremely sloppy and thrown together, and the ingredients are all pretty good, but lately some of the chefs have been messing with the recipe a bit. The base is still really good, but we need to fire some of these chefs, man! (I mean that as an analogy, I don’t mean actually fire devs.)
FFXIV is an extremely tight recipe at a very fancy restaurant where there is no room for deviation, the meal is sublime but it’s the same every time.
Point is some people just prefer bar food, man.
I tried to play FFXIV and got bored with it. I didn’t care for the long grind, and it was just monotonous and awkward to play imho. I too came back to WoW because it feels better to me, faster casting, spells, faster leveling and a hell of a lot more content.
Nah, it really didn’t. People will form their own opinions of each game by playing each, and will decide what’s best for them. Plenty of people have already given far better reviews/analyses of each game, with arguably less bias towards either.
Your opinion is your opinion, and you’re welcome to it, but trying to directly compare two games that intend to provide two very notably different types of fulfillment for their players is a waste of breath.
From what I read of your statements, you grossly overstate certain things WoW does, and you grossly understate certain things FFXIV does. That’s okay! You’re welcome to like one game significantly more than the other. But this didn’t need another topic just for you to share your opinion.
It’s still a lot more “stationary” then some bs like MNK or DRG.
Personally cannot stand positionals.
My personal favorite melee is the rabbit mage. I’m amazing at summoning rabbits.
Oh, I don’t disagree. DRG is pretty fun to me, but I can’t stand monk. It’s just positionals the Job. gross.
I have two characters -
One is DRK/PLD/SCH/SMN/RDM/DRG
Other is WAR/GNB/AST/BLM/NIN
i have zero interest in any of the ranged physicals, and somehow sam and mnk never really appealed to me. I put SMN in there but I never play it.
I had a long distance friend that I met in a game long long ago in another world. We just became very good friends and played multiple games together. He was not happy in WoW and finally went to FFIV. I went over there early last year and played a bit but I just couldn’t get into the game so i came back. He’s still there and we barely communicate now but that’s life. I do miss gaming with him.
This is a great analogy.
I’m finding it interesting that yourself and another poster from FF14 are rejoicing about the ability to do things without the need of others…in an MMO.
You mean Blue Mage.
yeah someone else already called me out on that, and I admitted I totally do mean blue mage.
WoW is the only way I can play on Azeroth after Warcraft III. There are no more single player Warcraft games that are relevant.
I participate in both forums.
Over there, you get people talking about how they wish FF14 had things like WoW, or how they prefer FF14 to WoW, over here, you get people talking how they wish WoW had things like FF14, or how they prefer WoW, like this thread.
There’s plenty of talk about Meta and how people should play. Just look at the discussion about Healers doing DPS (and where do you think that came from?). People aren’t calling people names? Have you not seen a thread about high elves, or allied races, or about Horde Bias? Both forums have plenty of name calling and arguments.
If you prefer WoW, you endulge in hearing people agree with you and discussing this preference, while the reverse happens over there.
