It’s not just a m+ problem as upgrade tracks are in all types of content. I dont think anyone should be surprised with a delve nerf while we dont even know what it would look like.
You generally want to nerf outliers because buffing everything else will create a snowball effect. It could be like needing to add an extra upgrade track because lower track gear which you can get in delves is simply too easy to get in comparison.
I know, right? there was a point with everyone complaining about ‘unqualified’ players doing mythic+, now they are complaining about people not doing mythic+ anymore. damned if you do, damned if you dont.
If will depend on if they add something else to balance the nerf. If they increase crest acquisition, it would net out. If they nerf vault to Hero 1 but leave crests as is, it would be too much of a grind to be entertaining. You’d have to run 24 delves a week to get enough crests to max it out. That isn’t going to work for the casual players that they claim delves were created for.
Because Blizzard implemented this whole other thing into the game, a genuine gear progression path for challenging solo content, sure it isn’t tuned perfectly and season 2 will hopefully iron out some of the kinks, but it would be a horrible shame to just gimp it in order to appease M+ people that have their noses out of joint.
Honestly, as a causal player, Delves have already kinda sucked. I certainly wasn’t progressing in gear on my 604 Warrior, so I swapped to this Druid, and I like it more gameplay wise, but I’m burned out getting gear. At least I’m actually getting gear on the Druid since my item level is so low, but on my warrior is junk and gold. Gold and junk. The progression system for gear is terrible. At least from my perspective. I’m gonna quit because of it anyway, but to me, Delves as is already sucked. They didn’t make me feel progression as a player. I just got stuck with bad rng, and it made me hate the game more and more.
Its not M+ players though, it is just the handful of people on the forum that derive their own sense of self worth through their ilvl. Frankly I just feel sad for these people that the best thing they have going for them in their life if earning KSM, but I guess you will always have that.
Seems kinda stupid if they nerf the T8 rewards. The whole point of delves is the acknowledgment that m+ is a dying game pillar that less and less people want to do due to the overly complex, punishing and bloated gameplay they have. This then combined with a toxic playerbase is why m+ is a failed pillar. Let it die a natural death as delves take over. This is the way.
You care too much about ilvl if you care about if it’s slightly lower than the rest of the game. Delve gameplay isn’t going to “change” (not for the worse anyway.) And you’re telling me delve gameplay depends so much on stats in the character panel to be fun?
I think it would be better if they brought mythic down.
1-4 keys drop champion, 5-8 should drop hero, 8+ should drop hero.
However the time investment comparing mythics & delves is insanely different. A t8 delve can be completed in less than 15 mins, a mythic 4 takes at max 30mins to complete.
The introduction of delves did completely create chaos for mythic keys. However, I do see the need for them.
What they should have done is made delves the pathway for champion gear, with the bounty map giving a chance to get hero gear.
Then starting at mythic 1 get hero gear, but less crest for the lower dungeon and more for higher dungeons.
Honestly what I would love to see is blizzard breaking away from the whole gear system adventure explorer veteran etc. they should make gear just 0/30 straight up. It would solve so many issues.
One of the biggest complaint about gearing for new people is how do I gear. For veterans it’s super easy.
If you outright made gear 0/30 then it’s very easy to explain you get gear from delves or mythic plus or raids. Once you get your gear you can level it by doing high versions of the stuff you did to get the gear.
