Soul Harvester Hero Tree

When the Heck is it coming out? lol

Ye, kinda surprised honestly, seemed like they hero specs were coming out once a week there for a while and haven’t heard anything since.

Got me all copiumed up the last few are actually gonna be substantial somehow (e.g. Meta/Dark Apotheosis in the Soul Harvester tree). No reason for that to be the case but copium doesn’t need reason.

Hoping soon, isn’t Alpha coming out in a week or so?, it’s bad enough we can’t give feedback now which I think is pretty vital, look at the Priests Oracle tree fiasco.

I honestly think the remaining trees have to be shown this week. Well hope they do.

Believe alot of us are wondering whats going on we still need to test this stuff for bigs before release and no news yet

Looks like we will be skipping Darkglare completely come TWW.

  • Mantle of the Harvester
Corruption deals damage 25% faster and Haunt grants Nightfall.

Haunt now procs Nightfall guaranteed that works Quietus that then works with Shared Fate (AoE)/Feast of Souls (ST) which goes back to Demonic Soul.

Soul Rot is a must have for the capstone, so the usual one point in Darkglare I’m assuming would now be placed in Haunt in M+ or in Raiding it’s essentially the same for ST as now.

I just hope this Demonic Soul and Soul of Anathema and all visuals are amazing or once again it’s gonna look very dull for us.

This tree is trash. All it comes down to is ‘sometimes your soul shard is empowered and does extra damage’.

I’m actually a fan of this tree.
I just hope the default UI is clear on telling us when we have a Succulent Soul Shard, and it isn’t just some buff in the top right corner.

You’ll be tracking it with a weak aura if it matters at all

I would imagine it’s similar to rogue’s anima-combo points where they’re a different color on the UI

Eternal Servitude/Spirited Away choice node sucks.
Other than that the idea of the tree is fine. More Nightfalls and Nightfalls guarantee a free Rapture. I wonder if the DoT is going to scale Rapture.
On the Demo side, I’m seriously starting to get concerned that we’re going to have to take Nether Portal again to maximize the buffs both trees give without Nether Portal’s problems being addressed.
Sizeable disparity on the capstone between the two specs. Tyrant gets as low as 1 minute with 3 additional points invested. Tyrant provides a 15 second buff. Soul Rot becomes 30 seconds with 2 talent points invested. Also applies a 15 second buff.

This is better than Hellcaller for Aff, but worse than Diabolist for Demo IMO.

I’ll probably do a longer post if they give us an official feedback post for this. From an aff perspective, I think this tree has enormous potential.

Positives and Synergies:

Basically, this tree represents a rapture/nightfall positive feedback loop. At its face, currently rapture off primary target damage is not that strong and why we seed of corruption in higher target count even though its prio target damage is poor. However, the talents in this tree, if they work as the tooltips describe, provide multiple flat damage events associated with rapture casts. As a result, the dependence on dot number (i.e. spreading of siphon life or reliance on dot cooldown windows) of rapture is reduced for good aoe/ST damage. For example:

Demonic soul (talent) itself provides 272% spell power bonus damage for rapture casts using succulent soul shards and for raptures cast for 15s after casting soul rot (Shadow of Death capstone talent).

Soul anethema (talent) applies a 10s dot (boosted by 25% and tics 20% faster by Quietus talent) for targets impacted by demonic soul raptures.

Both of these are flat damage events that look like they will hit all targets with a dot on them when you activate demonic soul.

If you then add in the choice node of Shared Fate → essentially makes nightfall radiate 72% spell power per second for 3s for mobs within 10 yds (likely requires at least two targets to work) or Feast of Souls → every nightfall guarantees (a chance at?) a succulent soul shard resulting in a feedback loop into Demonic Soul talent.

Nightfall procs from corruption tics. With the Mantle of the harvester talent, corruption tics 25% faster and haunt guarantees a nightfall proc. And they increased the damage from night fall by an additional 50% and drain soul by 20%.

Basically, they have set up much stronger drain soul casts, that will happen faster, provide more tormented crescdendo procs and, if talented into shared fate, will do aoe damage. Or they can also proc a succulent shard that provides a large flat damage event that hits every target with a dot on it.

Concerns I Have:

Spirited Away as a choice node might end up having niche uses. However, we already have a class tree talent that drastically reduces the health lost from burning rush. So going from a talent that you can just use all the time for speed boost for some health sacrifice to a 50s cooldown is unlikely to be played in most scenarios.

The choice node in spirited away is Eternal Servitude which reduces the CD of fel domination by 120s. Currently, fel domination is 180s. So, you could take the class tree talent fel pact and always have the option of instantly summoning pets. I suspect that unless Spirited Away is changed, the vast majority of the time we will take Eternal Servitude.

The talent Friend in Dark Places might be antisynergistic with the talent ichor of devils. This talent was used a bit more commonly when people played blue silken lining because it didn’t reduce health below the 90% threshold to benefit from the bonus mastery of the gear embellishment. If there are similar health-based gear embellishments in The War Within, the value of this new hero talent would be very low when playing ichor of devils. Obviously, when playing frequent donor, the result is an extra 10% of health pool added to the shield, which is pretty solid.

In aoe, the synergy with nightfall will encourage spending more gcds on using nightfall in aoe scenarios while haunt casts and faster corruption tics will increase nightfall proc rate as well. As is, this further reduces the gcds that anyone would want to use on a spell like siphon life. Siphon life should be removed or redesigned. It has less and less of a function in the design of this spec.

Soul rot’s positioning in the tree given that it is required for the capstone hero talent does not seem appropriate. Soul rot should be moved to more accessible location in the tree.

Questions the The War Within Alpha Should Answer:

Will Soul Anathema stack?

How does tormented crescendo work with rapture and succulent souls/demonic soul?

Does shared fate require a second target to do the damage?

If talented into Feast of Souls, does casting nightfall always give a succulent soul or does it always give you a chance to generate a succulent soul?

Theirs a lot in the air, Definitely curious to see if Darkglare is gonna be actually worth talenting into.

But I think one thing that’s for certain especially regarding the elephant in the room “Siphon Life”, as Snoz has suggested multiple times, Vile Taint needs to include Siphon Life it be such a huge QoL change that’s sorely needed.

Personally I think this QoL change isn’t up for discussion, it’s really needed. Especially looking at Soul Harvester we will have even less time now/gcds to be using Siphon Life.

Honestly I am impressed by the soul harvester tree. I expected it to be full of a bunch of demon summon garbage but they went with a different direction.

After reading some of the Talent changes for specs like Windwalker I am high on hopium for the Warlock changes when they come.

Hopefully its removed. Terrible, boring cooldown and always has been.

From the looks of things currently, it might not seem worth it, I guess it depends on Dark Harvest vs Darkglare in ST, but for AoE I don’t think Darkglare is worth it considering the interaction Soul Harvester has, especially with Haunt.

Let’s just pray visuals are top knotch :crossed_fingers:t4:.

They won’t be announcing in blue posts any more hero talents, instead they’ll just release them directly into Alpha.
This is most likely due to the commonly used phrase “We’ll know more once we play it.”.

Pretty impressed with Soul Harvester - looks really good for Affliction, and okay for Demonology (Diabolist definitely wins the Demo pick for me though).

Looks like Darkglare might be getting retired, which is pretty cool. I haven’t felt much love for the ol’ Noodle-boy for a long time. I don’t hate the idea of Soul Rot becoming our main capstone spell. If we got rid of the Darkglare talent line some cool additional talents could be added to the Haunt, Creeping Death, and Soul Rot lines.

Two things I want to pick-at (#sorry):

I do think the ‘Eternal Servitude/Spirited Away’ choice does seem lacklustre though as someone mentioned above. I’d prefer if the node gave a choice between: 1) You can have two demon pet utility spells active (either with Grimoire of Sacrifice or with a pet out); or 2) Demonic Gateway is now a personal blink.

I think it may be time to retire Shadow Bolt for Affliction and have Drain Soul return as the only filler spell. You could do cool things with it then like make it castable while moving, make it effect more than one target, make it drain additional targets in an area. Maybe Nightfall buffed Drain Souls can be cast while moving?

Other than those things - really like it! Concept is cool, talents are mostly centralised around similar abilities, doesn’t add any wildly outlandish play.

Thanks Devs, you get a cookie! <3

Seen a clip of some new visuals. Really like the touch of our demon/ghost friend popping up to do his thing whenever soul harvester stuff is going off.

WHERE!!? I need to see!

Every video I’ve found literally no one playing Warlock or even has Warlock in their group :sob:

btw the last row of talents is bugged for aff on alpha.
the demon is kinda underwhelming imo - as its the only animation you get from the hero talents.
