I know I’m like a majority of 1 here but the recent level cap on Shadowlands is heartbreaking. I live in China and don’t have a major credit card so I have to use a starter acct just to play the game. Shadowlands is my FAV expansion and now I can’t use my alts to play there.
This is no different to every other region version of the game. If you can’t buy game time / or have an active subscription you’re limited.
Blizzard doesn’t operate the game in China.
Can you not get a credit card or buy game time or something?
Unfortunately your feedback will not be heard by the right people here, I understand you don’t have an account in good standing to permit you to post in other sub-forums.
WoW’s free-to-play has been around for a very, very long time, almost as long(?) as the game’s lifespan-- free forever started roughly 15 years ago and before then it was free for a fortnight. The level cap has always been there, however.
Shadowlands was rolled into subscription-only access with the Dragonflight pre-patch nearly three years ago, not exactly what I would call ‘recent’ in the era of live-service.
While I’m not sure how NetEase has its fingers in Blizzard’s operations in China, they are ultimately the ones responsible and you can try appealing to their better nature (though they are a business, so this is a very slim chance), or find some method available to bring your account into funded standing for continued access.
Shadowlands is subscription only? I’m surprised, a little, but hadn’t tried because despite it being the afterlife, Malace-GrizzlyHills won’t be there but I’ll still see him everywhere.
For NA & EU realms it is part of the base game. You can access it via Chromie Time on an unsubbed account. I am currently taking one of my level 20s through it on my starter account in the EU.
