Yeah, its pretty weird. I’ve been wondering if Turalyon CAN’T remove his armor or something. Wouldn’t put it past Blizzard to go, “Yeah, Turalyon only lives because his armor sustains him, otherwise he’d turn to dust,” or something.
Everyone is wearing their ingame armor(except Thaly and Lother have theirs covered by a cloak). So no, I dont think it is that and simply Blizzard telling their artist to make sure the characters are just wearing their ingame armor for recognition purposes.
In fact, its actually fairly common to do,exhibit a:
I’m sure the Christmas Truce of World War 1 wouldn’t count either, then. Also, it’s been close to a decade since open hostilities and the Fourth War, at some point it’s simply not treacherous anymore.
It’s just peace.
Not what I meant.
I do wonder about the “once again”, though. You’re aware of the 35 years of (cold) war before?
Yet not with Russia.
It depends, I guess?
Yes.
Time doesn’t matter. It depends on the reasons for the conflict and whether they are still there.
If it was just peace, that would be fine. But this hanky-panky is just bizarre, especially since there was no buildup.
I like how even Alleria is kinda confused by Eitrigg being there. Even setting aside the Horde/Alliance stuff, this is framed as a long overdue reunion between old friends. Why is Only-Surviving-Orc-Not-Named-Thrall there in the first place? Even if he and Danath are on friendly terms now, he’s not a member of the Sons of Lothar.
“Hey guys. I know this is an Alumni Reunion, so I brought a homeless guy I fist-fought multiple times but made up with.”
Could be a Son of Lothar by marriage.
Do I ship Danath x Eitrigg? No, but I wouldn’t be opposed to it.
More like insufferable… makes Tyrande’s Night Warrior arc look better, and I liked Alleria in the beginning.
It feels like they’re trying really, really hard to recreate the edginess of Sylvanas with Alleria and are just failing to understand what even made Sylvanas a compelling character(before she went bat guano crazy). So all we’re getting is her being super edgy in every scene she’s in and all of her “suffering” is just self inflected stupidity rather than the suffering that Sylvanas went through being a fallen hero.
I doubt they are trying to recreate Sylvanas. If anything they are making sure she doesnt go off the deep end.
As for “stupidity” Sylvanas beats her by a mine what with her not once but twice believing a literal demon and WoW’s version of Satan. So far Alleria has decided not to listen to that whisper.
Like I said:
“I will never serve.”
“I’m not aiming at you.”
There’s no difference in the story quality.
Like Alleria never followed Xal. So aside from a very specious similarly they are actually different.
If anything it is closer to Genn breaking the Soulcage more then anything to what Sylvanas was doing. And lets be honest here. I think most people actually liked the cinematic and I think people were less then thrilled with the Sylvanas one.
I don’t know. I think what they’re doing to Alleria is worse than what they’re doing to Sylvanas.
The core of Alleria’s character is her love for her family. She’s a military mother. Comes home to her child all grown up, having missed out entirely on his childhood. Her family almost entirely died in her absence. She missed a lot, but she still loved her husband, her son, her sister, etc… Family is everything to Alleria.
But, because a plain old hunter is just too boring for whatever reason, the Devs turned her into a void goddess. Now, she can’t go anywhere near her family, and anytime she reflects on this and asks herself why she doesn’t just give it up, the entire narrative stalls and then ignores it, because if she was being handled by writers who didn’t insist on lore characters being super heroes (or anti-heroes), then she obviously would give it up, because she would DO that for her family.
So, instead she’s this unheard of innate master of all things void, being led around by the nose by Xal’atath because this 1,000+ year old ranger/void goddess is acting like a teenager so that she can go through a, “growth arc,” that was never needed to begin with.
Say what you will about Sylvanas, but at least she made for a good villain. They’ve been ruining Alleria by contrast.
You people really have trouble understanding what before she went crazy means huh?
? I am agreeing with you. She’s Alliance Sylvanas, practically 1;1 – what’s lacking is what made Sylvanas a good character.
Oh, sorry, I misunderstood. My bad.
I think you only got half of Alleria’s character. While family is the most important thing to her that is the very reason why she is willing to stay away from her kid, as contradictory as that might seem. She wants to make sure Arator and other like him get to live in a safe world, hence why she was willing to go into the Dark Portal and leave him behind.
She hasnt given up the power/focuses on Xal because I think she knows what could happen if the Void/Renilash happens. So she is will to focus her energy on beating Xal(and maybe even the void) in the hope of someday maybe freeing the world from its grasp.
And considering Midnight is billed as the “final defeat of the void”. We will probably her fate soon enough.
Wasn’t a big deal. Not going to waste much time on it. But the fact that it was based on Alliance lore, with a token Horde character just kinda stuck in there, is beyond typical. I really think they are incapable of doing it any other way.
Let’s be honest with ourselves.
If there was a second video, and it was for the Horde, it’d be Lor’themar and Thalyssra and maybe Calia Menethil, and people would just be calling it a second Alliance animatic/comic.
The amount of people people thinking Blood Elves are Alliance, or red Alliance is just…
“The Blood Elves don’t work in a monstrous faction like the Horde!” … did they miss the Warcraft 3 Campaign where it was all about the Blood Elves being booted out of the Alliance to join a monstrous faction? (The Illidari)
