Sometimes this game isn't made for everybody

Sometimes this game isn’t made for everybody.

Some may find it too challenging, some may find it not challenging enough and some may find it just right.

If you feel you’re not being challenged enough in any version of WoW, feel free to find a game that best suits your abilities. No shade here, just getting tired of seeing posts on the daily about either how hard or how easy this game is.

Personally for me, I find leveling in retail to be easy, but end-game is a bit too challenging for me, so I stay away from it. I play Classic because it’s that right amount of balance, but for some it’s not challenging enough, even at max level.

You can’t please everybody, and there are more MMOs out there that aren’t WoW that you’re welcome to try. Nobody is going to think any differently of you, we just want you to have your idea of fun, whatever that is and enjoy life.

I don’t think you’ll get rid of the hate gamers. It’s the only way they can feel emotions.

I think the endgame is too hard for new players. Heroic/timewalker dungeons are cakewalks that require almost no attention, but then they get into a mythic dungeon where suddenly mechanics matter and they find the game is really really hard when mechanics matter. I don’t actually know how new players deal with something like a +0 Siege without dying and getting yelled at by their team. Especially if they don’t have boss mods or are not aware addons exist.

I agree the game isn’t for everyone, but I think drastic shifts in difficulty for unprepared players can cause them to conclude that it’s not for them. When I was a kid learning WoW, I was mostly just trying not to stand in fires, but nowadays new players have to solve puzzles that explode in their team’s face.

Anything “made for everyone” is made for no one.

I don’t want something that’s made for “everyone”. I want [Thing] made for (and by) people who like [Thing].

EDIT:

Heroics should be Mythic -1. Not Normal (trivial) +1. +1 trivial is still trivial. Heroics should be the stepping stone into Mythic 0, not just more jocularly brain-dead content.

Ideally, Timewalking would be on the level of heroics, but scaling screws things ALL up. I don’t really understand it, it should just be a matter of getting the math right.

A game made for everyone is never going to be a good game.

I seem to recall timewalking dungeons taking some effort in the past but people with storage units full of alts losing it over the fact that they couldn’t clear the dungeons at warp 9.

As soon as queue content offer some challenge, they flock the forums and scream until blue in the face for nerfs.

You might think that’s not asking for much out of new players but it is asking a lot.

Ever heard of tacos?

If I had to summarize this game’s biggest problem into one problem, it would be that they are trying to cater to too many different types of players, which leads to someone being unhappy all the time, myself included.

It also leads to a subpar experience for everyone most of the time. It also leads to identity issues, which the game struggles with very badly now.

This rogue speaks the truth, tacos are life, but the cake is a lie.

WoW only took off because it was approachable for a casual audience compared to other MMORPGs at the time. Endgame is currently overdesigned. I’d argue classes are also overdesigned. I’m not saying they should go back to classic but there has to be a good middle ground somewhere. Not mind-numbingly simple but not insanely convoluted either.

I agree. At max level or even before it, it feels over-stimulating.

There’s so many abilities, so many pathways you can go with the talent trees (which is better than the last tree we had with 3 picks per 15 levels), just a crazy amount of bloat. Then there’s the new talents, and professions, in my opinion, have gotten a bit more complicated. They really just need to simplify things, that would be a good start.

Who died and made you the judge of us all? Was there some election I missed?

Probably the same as day-1 account players who are in the same boat: we don’t even bother with the system and let other people enjoy it.

I don’t think it’s a coincidence that they always claim this game was better when they played it as a young kid when they were still allowed to feel emotions.

I think that’s exactly it.

I sometimes reel my friend in when she goes over the top. Essentially for the most part she is a homebody (partner provides financially while she takes care of the house).

Now when WoW is most of your entertainment/everything a slight or an issue ingame feels like it a bigger issue than it actually is because there are no bigger problems than that they mostly have to deal with. I can tell when she goes into fight mode with someone cause she’ll go silent and you can hear her keyboards mashing fast. In her case I’m the voice of reason but I imagine it isn’t going to be the case for a lot of folk.
