Before you come at me with your pitchforks and torches just take a second and read please.
I thoroughly enjoyed the Hallowfall Story line thus far. Its a fun one. I like the WH fantasy/40k asthetic especially when npcs holler FOR THE EMPEROR! I love the idea of them being nearly anti-xenos and wanting to squash the bugs! FOR SUPER EARTH! All that.
Major or side characters, whatever you want to call them, like General Steelstrike and Faerin Lothar I have enjoyed because their writing is decent and its been awhile since I have had a side character I actually liked.
However Faerin Lothar feels to⌠soft. Like I understand her character background but its mostly the voice approach for her. I honestly had expected something along the lines of someone like Sarah Conner, Ellen Ripley, Captain Niobe, and other grizzled voices.
Sheâs obviously seen some stuff in her day and I had expected her to be a bit more, Hoorah! Not, Hurray!
Faerinâs personality being slightly more subdued than I imagined it would be is the only thing that makes her more than a current-year cardboard cutout.
I feel like Faerin is being groomed to be Anduins second, or even a more personal relationship. She doesnât feel like just a side character, and more over her personality seems to be specifically tailored to compliment Anduins. The two seem to bring eachother up and this to me feels like some sort of attempt at shipping. Maybe Anduin is gonna divorce wraithon finally?
But isnât that just fitting a stereotype? Why canât someone whoâs been through what she has, not still have a soft spoken voice. Is âgrizzledâ the only acceptable voice for someone whoâs survived trauma and war?
Also, from what I can tell is sheâs still young. And Blizzard has a habit of using obvious indicators of age and/or maturity.
Yes and No. Given these individuals seem to be driven on war and zealotry, I had expected her to sound more battle hardened rather than someone who just went to what they call âthe Front.â (Iâm assuming this is taking reference to All Quiet On the Western Front where young men were pressed into service and sent to the various fronts in Europe during WWI).
Given Faerinâs background I figured she would sound slightly rougher than she does.
I can understand the direction they took to be more of the âsofterâ part of the war effort. The âcomfortingâ aspect which is cool. I donât mind it at all. Its just first initial reactions and getting used to is what threw me off.
At least that goomba didnât race to throw itself under your feet. Sendrax went and Robloxâd herself when I was standing right there with healing and defensive abilities ready.
Lets not forget characters in lore often use several specs or classes even. Anduin for example has exhibited both warrior and priest traits and occasionally paladin ones. Thrall has been a shaman and a warrior. Being both a holy and protection paladin is pretty straight forward compared to other lore significant characters.
Bad news, he called Wrathion a âgood friendâ when I asked him about Wrathion. Theyâre absolutely getting back together when we get back to the mainland. He was all sad and stuff, he misses his boo.
I donât think theyâd put her in the cinematic just to âoffâ her or do some kind of odd unexpected twist, like make her a Dreadlord or something.
