Seems fine to me. Her deep and unshaking faith in the Light seems to ward off some of the demons you would expect in someone who has been through and seen as much as her. She’s a lot like a young Anduin before the Jailer diddled his mind: optimistic almost to a fault.
She actually goes into that into in one of the side quests. The empire is very xenophobic, but the Arathi stuck in Hallowfall don’t have the option to reject help. Beggers can’t be choosers, or something like that.
You started this exact thread a few days ago. You really didn’t need to try for round two.
People react and shape to stressors differently.
To be fair not every grizzled person has a grizzled voice.
She’s meant to be like a firefly in the dark. So while her voice surprised me a bit, it clicked why its like that after a few listens.
She’s soft-spoken yet strong-willed. If that doesn’t sit well with you, that’s a personal preference, not an indictment against the character.
Her voice really does not match her appearance.
She looks like she could hold the line until the last person is evacuated from an endless horde of bugs and come out unscathed.
Then she turns around and talks with such a sweet voice it gives me a toothache.
It’s not bad, persay, the juxtaposition just throws me off is all.
lmao.
I think it may be the shield. Definitely didn’t sit right with me.
How is it attached?!
OP deserves a like for their critique of the character being an actual critique.
I like Faerin, and I like where I think they’re going with her and Anduin. But. They did make her the world’s biggest sweetie-pie, it’s a little too much.
When she’s not risking life and limb to save strangers she’s reading stories at the orphanage. I imagne her pay goes to feed the homless.
It’s a pretty minor gripe, but she did give me diabetes. Too much sugar.
Yes that’s true. thousands out of the millions of people who play this game say they hit escape and don’t watch the cut scenes so it must be true for at least 1% of the player base.
10/10 for a legit critique and not pulling some bs out of your a** like she’s offensive to amputee’s or vets or she’s a ‘woke token’.
She’s a little soft for a battle-hardened person. She cares for her people and stuff, but as you said she seems a little to soft with the orphanage thing…
I think she is embezzling from her people. Yea, she’s all torn up and battle scarred yet, she has some real nice stuff. How’s she getting all that? charity? I don’t think so. Priory Bake sales don’t make that kind of money.
Her shoulder armor has a hook on it and her shield hangs on that like a painting on a wall. I wonder how she actually blocks anything with it.
What’s up with her and cats? Did a lynx get the zoomies on her face when she was a child?
It’s a badly written and designed character designed to check boxes, and of course people are defending it on account of those boxes which is basically working by design. This strategy (which is widely used throughout many types of media) is of course offensive to everyone but the people who already agree with the ideology driving it.
The companies of course don’t care, but there are investment funds available to companies that add this kind of messaging, so if you’re the CFO you tell them to add it so you can get more capital since making AAA games is extremely expensive and offsetting risk onto investors rather than customers is a safer bet.
It’s refreshing not to have a cardboard cutout or a character that doesn’t click some standard boxes for how every other character is. Time to expand your thinking.
I think she’s well-written in the context of Arathi, but I’d agree, they should go a bit harder on the voice acting.
Baron Braunpyke is a great example of the kind of voice acting I’d like with the Arathi.
He already did…in the Klingon way. Though, he did forget to spit, and say “N’Gos tlhogh cha!” after punching Wrathion in the face.
The sentiment was there, though.
Enduring trauma and hardship and still keeping your heart open is why I love Faerin so much.
Idk. Trials don’t necessarily have to leave folks grizzled beyond belief. In light of immense anguish and torment, losing and arm and an eye, perhaps retaining a gentleness is her way of rebelling against the horrors of the world? That’s my take on her at least. Big paladin energy.
