So I got an email about someone changing my personal information and it wasn’t authorized by me and they changed my email and log in information also my battletage name by talking to a GM claiming that I hacked them, when in reality they hacked my account somehow, I just recently was able to get back into my account by using my icloud but he got my battletag name changed to his and put in his information which i’ve been able to re-update, but now that i’m back into my account using my apple id and updated my information and also put an authenticator on my account i’m afraid the guy can still access my account and close the ticket before a GM gets to it to help me, originally i had to make tickets without being signed in and never got a response, very detailed tickets that even had proof of in-game purchases from when i bought in-game tokens, I have no clue how the guy accessed my account but the fact that he was able to convince the GM that he was the owner of my account that i’ve had for years is crazy… please someone get back to me LIVE if possible I have all the proof to show that i’m the rightful owner with many emails receipts from in-game purchases with invoices I’m afraid the hacker is going to regain access somehow
Unfortunately theres no GMs on the forums on the brite side the fact that u have a authenticator now will make it even harder I hope u changed ur wow email address to a completly different one.
You may have also got some malaware on your account possibly id run and run any virus scanner/malaware program on your computer to be safe.
I think you should be fine provided youve secured ur account properly now getting a SMS attached wouldnt hurt either extra protection that way unless they have a man in the middle program on your computer highly unlikely the SMS plus authenticator should prevent this from happening again.
i’ve been able to reset it to my original email I would always use to sign in with, different from the one he hacked and used to talk to a GM, but now the problem still is that he has changed my battletag name and I can’t seem to find a way to get it changed back to my orignal, I believe it asked me to pay for the battletag name to be changed
You realy need a new email keeping the old one is a bad idea. Aside from what i suggested theres not much else account security that can be added at this point so i think ull be fine uless he has access to your authenticator I dont forsee any possible breeches.
U can probably open a generic ticket about the btag name theres probably another option and a GM can take a 2nd look and see if they can give u another one here tickets are averaging 24hrs.
With a Govt issued photo ID. That is the proof that Blizzard requires to access an account and especially to change information. Blizzard does not allow people to just chat with them and gain access to an account, much less change a name on it.
To change a name on an account requires proof of legal name change documentation to be presented as well such as a marriage certificate or court documents.
Anyone can purchase things for an account so purchase records are not part of proving who the registered account holder is.
Your solution, most likely, is to wait on your ticket and to present the ID information for the account.
The problem with presenting my ID to a GM is that the guy still has a Passsword that only he knows, i’m only able to access my account using the icloud log in, i can’t put my email in with my original password because he has the password changed so i Dont want to present my ID and him be able to get into my account and now be able to see all my personal info on my ID…
Start a brand new battle.net account with a new email (preferably one with an authicator on it too, like Gmail)
Make sure new new account is also in your name and then submit the ticket from that new account.
I see you have a contact open at the moment - you could also try Live Chat.
Contact Support - Blizzard Support (battle.net)
Honestly, while I see the changes back and forth - I myself am not seeing any of the normal signs of a compromise. Adding an authenticator is good - but I’d also strongly recommend you check your system for malware, and make sure any emails you are using is secure.
appreciate you guys taking time out to help me, I’m still currently in the process of getting my battletag and password changed but some of you have been a big help, still have no clue how to run a system check or virus scam though
I’d recommend starting with the free version of Malwarebytes. You can get it from their website here:
Install that, then run a scan with it.
