Honestly im not sure how everyone else feels about the state of warlock but in my opinion it needs some sort of change, Affliction and destro just dont do the damage Demo does but demo requires really clunky pet swapping mid fight and prepulling with different sets/trinkets to do its damage. The whole thing feels awful to play in my opinion

yea man welcome to cata warlock. clunky, poorly designed and in the shadow of its peak rework in MoP. theres a reason xelnath had to rip everything apart and change things up big time to make warlock fun in MoP. at least cata will be short.

Most will argue that Cata is the best time to ever play Affliction as it’s the best version. Not sure what you are talking about. Especially as the expansion goes on.

Yeah there is simply no way it is intended design to have a second set of gear for mastery and an AGILITY trinc in my bag to use pre pull. Its not even a minor difference that makes either, it is 30+% extra damage on your first meta…

He isn’t saying affliction is clunky or unfun, he is saying it is mathematically worse than demo which is a fact.

Besides being brilliantly designed, its also god tier in pvp.
Cata Affliction is a masterpiece.

And it was to fix Cata warlock.
That being said, affliction is not too bad. It’s mostly the same as wotlk affliction, if a little bit easier even in the execute. It’s just not, uh, flashy like fire mage. When I was playing it in prepatch it could mostly keep up with my guildies playing demo. And certain fights it’ll be superior to demo.
Id love to play demo but the demon twisting/mastery swap nonsense ruins it.
If both of those things were axed it would be tolerable to play.
Man i hated MoP warlock its what caused me to quit the class for good. Removal of Soul Swap, DoTs dealing barely any damage, having to channel that awful Maelfic Grasp spell in order to deal any sort of pressure.
We get some new defensive CDs which are nice but the damage profile was absolutely ruined for someone who really enjoyed the Vanilla/TBC/Wotlk/Cata style of Affliction.

They could give it the balance druid treatment, meta gets reset on pull so you can’t swap sets and precast meta with extra mastery.
Yep, I’m sticking with it but this is the reason why Warlocks population decreased dramatically over the course of Cata.
Messing up the opener or someone pulling at 1 or 2 left on the countdown can be the difference between 20k dps and 14k for the fight.
It’s absolutely clunky tho, even with what I consider my ideal keybinds.

And destro is probably a smoother rotation than demo is…
In terms of pvp cuz I’m assuming you pve Andy don’t play that
Affliction is probably the best spec out of all three… while the other can still perform well it’s not as potent as affliction
They do, they outperform Demo on multiple fights.
Blizz should reset metamorphosis on pulls though to discourage the mastery swap degeneracy.
