Some form of Sharding

Since Blizzard confirmed “some form of sharding” for classic (See Lore’s post),
what form do you advocate for? Sharding only in starting zones for a few weeks, sharding in all busy areas for a few weeks, permanent sharding where appropriate.

I advocate permanent sharding because it doesn’t make sense to me to be frustrated by a mechanic that WoW has already fixed.

Since some form of sharding is inevitable, let Blizz know which form you support!

What mechanic?

Id prefer none at all but IF it does happen, id be ok with it to be only the starting zone for each race for the first 12 hours and that is it.

Sharding shouldn’t be in.

I don’t know. The moment I see some phasing, I’m going to be rather annoyed and tempted to quit.

I couldn’t care less what anyone thinks is inevitable or not. I’m not going to put up with sharding in any form outside of the first month - preferably less or not at all.
I support a ceased existence to sharding. End of story. You aren’t going to change my mind and if it enters the game, (past the outlined period stated above) then you know exactly who won’t be getting money from me.

Agreed. They are dumb if they expect people to just accept sharding. A big part of the player base has no problem sitting in a queue, but they don’t want to use one.

Sharding will affect the game in so many ways if it goes past the starter area. So they can’t shard the whole world. Otherwise they have gone full potatoes and we’d be better off back in the private servers

IMO, I’d rather have no sharding at all. And if it does happen anyway, like others might’ve mentioned, only in the starter area for only the first few weeks.

Just ignore the troll OP and move on.

I am fine with starting zone sharding for the first few weeks or month. Would prefer no sharding beyond that. Sharding could be a game breaker for me, but I am not that worried about them overdoing it.

Agreed. Sharding is one of the things that has killed retail. If I experience it at all I am going to be tempted be done with this game, period. Getting too old for video games anyway.

It’s interesting to see how sharding is generally accepted now, to whatever degree, than it was say 2 or 3 months ago. So far, though, the first few weeks only is represented.

edit: As for proof, it depends on your vantage. It is akin to the media’s terribly biased week last week with respect to the buzfeed story and the catholic kids in DC. The left wing media (akin to no-changers in my analogy) interpret and run with whatever fits their narrative.

When lore says (verbatim):

To that end, we do believe that some form of sharding may be helpful, especially in those early days.

It doesn’t surprise me that you read it like he says sharding will never happen. It’s amazing, but I am not surprised.

Tolerated briefly and only because of its promised removal.

Both

and

are not definite answers - they only hint at favour or likelihood.

Nope i read it like it says.
At no point dies he say sharding will 100% be a thing. I like how you only take 1 or 2 sentences to prove a point when the whole article disproves your point.
But hey its your troll thread not mine so I guess you can tell what ever story you want.

Starting zone only for the first week only.
Dynamic respawns in the starting zones would be the answer to not have sharding and it couldn’t be abused as they give you no xp at level6+
No Sharding.

Appreciate the sharding support for, at the very least, in the beginning. Thanks, let’s get the word out that sharding isn’t the end of the world.

There’s more than one reason that Blizzard is looking to shard the servers for launch, as I’ve been saying:

Which was also stated by Ion in the BfA Q&A yesterday:

Fair point. I haven’t kept up with recent changes. I’m sure some people will somehow interpret this, too, in favor of their narrative.

If the game runs better and the servers operate with more stability, I’m in favor. I won’t quit just because of sharding and Blizzard doesn’t care if some dramatic forum autist unsubs either.
