I hope Blizzard sees that. What is the future for these servers…? Do they plan to keep this up?
Why? What you mean?
Every server died but one that isn’t even high population… That isn’t a success.
Why do you care? You’re a level 14 dk on retail.
There was a bluepost outlining this:
Good to know all 20 people that play SoM will have a safe place to go.
There are only 50 people online at all times in SOM
Uh yea so can we rerelease another som?
Did SOM bully you as a child? You sound hurt
Server is dead type /who and only 50 people online.
Cool story, brah.
They did SoM too soon, which is why they’re not doing TBC servers. They thought that there were enough people interested in staying in classic era, there wasn’t. So they thought to reignite interest in classic with SoM and all the changes it brought. In the end though all it brought back were a small size not even the size of a medium pop realm spread across 14 servers 7 of which have no players.
If they were to do SoM in say… 5 years or something, I still won’t play but I’m sure that it would’ve had more interest than it has now. It’s all about time.
Maybe you aren’t the best person to give advice then, idk.
Do you not get what I’m saying? They did SoM too soon, who’d want to play something they’ve literally just did.
There wasnt enough of an interest, sorry if that offends you.
I tried to tell everyone this was a stupid idea and that these realms were doomed. Now they are finally admitting defeat and planning to close them all. A handful of people obsessed with “fresh” realms do not carry with them any longevity. They’ll play for a few months then quit, exactly as I predicted last year. SOM was a big failure, which couldn’t have been more obvious in advance, but they went full speed ahead anyway.
My prediction for it wasn’t exactly hard to figure it out. Before SOM came, classic realms were already mostly empty and on life support. For a game that already has far too many realms for its population, only a complete moron would somehow think more realms is going to help. That’s the exact opposite of what the game needed. It needs less realms, not more realms.
The worst part is that crusade will be made to suffer for the sins of classic. Thanks to classic, crusade will no longer have any realms to preserve its legacy what so ever. Crusade will be deleted and it’s in no small part thanks to SOM which there was no good reason to even create. This also puts wrath at risk in the future. Many of us want to stop at wrath but now we risk being forcibly patched up to cataclysm and wrath being deleted next.
“Play stupid games (progression servers), win stupid prizes.”
-SOM was the stupid game, not the normal realms.
Judging from the state of SOM and the fact they aren’t releasing TBC era servers, it looks like their interest in them would be less than Classic Era.
Not sorry if this offends you.
Get forced into northrend, or get left behind level 70 gnome.
Thousands and thousands of people.
Execution and error was very clearly the result of the current playerbase. People who play SOM are aware of that.
YES, YES YES, AGREE. This guy gets it. DO YOU HEAR THAT ARI3LBA AND L@ZZARAK? IN YOUR FACE. PHRESH REALMS WILL AND ALWAYS BE A FAILURE 101%
And the Classic community has been saying to focus on Classic Forever realms and do a consolidated merge. The cloning fee was an issue and they released server transfers too late and that screwed over the population for Classic Forever because the people who were originally playing Classic Forever quit due to server mismanagement.
Absolutely agree. SOM is to blame here, and whoever thought releasing seasonal realms over prioritizing Classic Forever servers and Classic + content is better should re-evaluate their priorities and consider what they stand for:
Temporary fud players? Or True World of Warcraft Fans that are here to stay forever
There’s an illegal place that has a seasonal wrath that resets every April and contains 12-15k players every time. It’s not about time, but about delivery. No i will not mention the name.
