(Solved question.)

No RMT bans usualy happen from 1 of 3 things

 1. buyying gold.
 2. recieving gold from a trade that was tainted.
 3. Random gold sent in the mail and accepted without realizing.

2, is the most likely and this can only be solved by apealing.

Do you realy want them to rush and decided to close ur bnet account.

But no theres no way to accelerate the process yes it could take a weeknor it could be sooner.

No. Tickets are answered in the order in which they are received. It wouldn’t be fair for you to jump ahead of those who have been waiting on their own appeals.

Nope, this wouldn’t have dinged you.

This, this may have done it. While no one wants to think of what their friends may or may not do, if one of them had bought gold and you been on the receiving end of it? That could be the culprit.

There isn’t anything any of us here can do at this hour, but perhaps in the morning, one of our SFAs can at least take a peek and see what they can share.

Assume everything you read on reddit about why someone got banned is a lie.

This is why blizzard cracked down on boosting services alot of players looked for the easy way out to get the gold for the boost id ask ur friends where they got the gold.

Theres a chance they maybe linieant small chance but the fact fact that you ddint know may help.

So you are going to have to wait on your appeal, as nobody here can affect it in anyway, even the SFA’s though they might drop in and give you a bit more information. The response from the appeal will be a template response which will either affirm or override the initial action.

While there is always a small chance of a false positive, most cases of RMT where an actual ban occurs (not.a 1-2 week suspension) they will have clear evidence of you either accepting a large amount of gold from an exploitive account, or where you are giving a large amount of gold to an exploitive account, usually a level 1, an example of this is when someone is paying to get boosted, but they pay a third party, not the person doing the boosting.

Yeah, bummer that occurred, but at least you figured it out and its sounds like its a suspension which is much better then getting a ban, so good luck with the appeal.

I’d still send in an appeal. There is a really really tiny chance, but unlikely, that the penalty is reduced. We’ve seen it here before. Open an appeal, don’t try to plead innocence or play lawyer with Blizzard. Remember, THEY SEE EVERYTHING. Be humble, say you trusted a friend but learned they had also been suspended and you’re unsure (because you really don’t know for sure) that the two cases are linked.

Fixed that for you.

I agree. The worst that happens is they say no. Good luck with the appeal. Hopefully you can get a commuted sentence.

you can not trade gold in WoW

But u can send it thru the mail.

Little curious here bc of what Orlyia said in a recent similar situation:
The review of something like this is basically two-fold.

1. Did you get the gold, yes

2. Was it from an exploitive source, again - yes

The fact you may not have known is why this is a suspension, not a ban.

They aren’t going to give you any more info. Just deal/receive from the characters you know you are dealing with. You have zero idea if Joe, who says his ā€˜banker’ is ā€œahahdtg’ is being honest. Make sure it’s JOE that hands it to you, or mails it to you. Then, if JOE bought the gold, JOE will pay the penalties, not you.
OP says this was a friend, so presumably a main or reasonably leveled alt? From what Orlyia says above, it seemed like if there’s no reason one should be suspicious of a person (they trade on their main and it doesn’t look fishy), the penalty will fall on them and not you. Or do you still pay a penalty for not knowing the gold was tainted, it’s just that the penalty is not a ban?

Or you could think about it this way, considering what you stated above could be quite a convenient alibi (ie, an attempt to make it seem like a legitimate thing).

What none of us know about, including Blizzard, is if you had any conversations with them via a 3rd party chat program (ie, Discord).

ā€œIf it’s too good to be trueā€.

Yet another good reason friends don’t let friends buy gold.

Was 1000% exploitive account that delivered to you.

It may well be your friend thought they were doing you a ā€˜favor’, I don’t know if they were even involved - but if so, they unfortunately did you no favors.

I am sorry some lessons are harder than others.

Ahh okay that does make sense then. It could have been your friend arranging the sell, like they bought gold on your behalf. It seems the GM who handled your case gave you the benefit of the doubt that you didn’t know since it’s just a suspension. Thanks for sharing and good luck if you do an appeal!
