edit: Solved, the solution to this bug on windows is to change date+time settings to “Set time automatically” instead of manual. The trade tooltips will return and you will be able to trade as normal. Shoutout to my friend who figured it out, Savage you a real one.
Things I tried that did not fix this:
Clearing Interface, WTF, Cache folders
Disabling all addons
Running Wow Repair Tool
Uninstalling addon updaters such as Curseforge
Doing a fresh install of the game
Installing the game using files from another computer where trading works
Reinstalling battlenet
Resetting your UI
Hoping it would be magically fixed with maintenance
Switching characters (occurred across all characters)
Unchecking the Combine Bags option under Gameplay Controls
Making super duper extra mega sure the item is eligible for trade until you gaslight yourself into thinking you don’t understand how trading works anymore
original: Been having a bug for about a week now where none of my characters can trade loot to anyone. What happens is an item will drop from either raid or mythic+ and it won’t be an upgrade for me, however the item is soulbound when it hits my bags without any option to trade to eligible players. This occurs with drops both in mythic+ and raid.
All loot I’ve received for the past week has been like this, including obvious downgrades and duplicate items, and this is happening on multiple characters. Other group members are able to trade their loot as normal.
All items that hit my bags on any character appear to be affected, regardless of what content I’m doing or how it ended up there, whether received as personal loot, won in a roll, or traded to me via someone else.
I have had this occur on every one of my characters regardless of which realm the other player was from, even if I was on Gnomeregan and the player I want to give the item to was also on Gnomeregan. A few times it worked without a hitch, but the minute I left the group it was a dead issue, no longer tradable.
Have tried all the usual fixes including disabling all addons, deleting WTF and Cache, running wow repair tool… Nothing has fixed this issue, I can’t trade any times on any character to anyone, including when people trade me items with the trade timer active, i can’t even trade it back to them.
Does anyone anywhere have any information on this issue, or any fixes? All I’ve found is this post from eu where a blue poster responded that they are unaware of any loot problems. I want to reiterate that this is not a situation where the problem is user error or a misunderstanding of the game’s trade functions. This is a bug where the loot trading system as a whole fails to work entirely, in my case across all characters and content.
I have the exact same issue. I think it started in 10.2. It is very frustrating that no one seems to understand that it is a real issue and not our misunderstanding of loot rules or addons. I cannot trade loot from M+ chests or transmog runs in old raids under ANY circumstances. On ALL of my characters. Resetting the UI does not work. Playing without addons does not work. I saw another poster saying they reinstalled the game to no avail. Please, it is affecting more than my own gameplay when I can’t trade loot to eligible players.
Have you guys paid for a race change recently? I am really grasping at straws now, trying to find a correlation.
Nope no race change or any other services recently for me.
And still unable to trade any loot on any character as of today for going on close to two weeks now. Bummer in my mythic+ runs having to tell people when they ask if I need an item I looted “sorry I’m bugged and can’t trade anything.”
I have been having the same issue, submitted a ticket only to be directed to the Bug Forums, which is hit or miss on getting a response about the issue directly.
I submitted a ticket before posting and this was my experience also.
Still unable to trade as of today, with an update.
I’d recently bought a new laptop when this first started happening, so one I’m using right now has a fresh install of wow+bnet. The other day I opened up my previous laptop with wow installed to test this bug and discovered that I CAN TRADE from that old laptop, but not from this new one. So, I transferred all the files from that laptop to the new one, didn’t alter anything, even did a fresh bnet install, changed the launch folder in bnet to the one with the files from the old laptop, booted up wow and discovered… That I still cannot trade from the new laptop. lol

Thank you for this! And thank you for undertaking the trouble to contact me in-game with the solution. I very much appreciate your efforts. May the gates of Silvermoon ever be open to you!
