The solution is to scrap Solo Shuffle how it is currently, experiment failed. And have a solo que system similar to Lost Ark 3v3.
Random Teams, maybe opt in to what comps you want to play(optional)?
The more comps you opt into, the quicker the ques.
Either 1 and done or best of 3. With a high dampening to keep games quick like RSS does.
Then they can add 5v5 back with 1 healer 4 dps RSS format, faster ques at a 1:4 Heal to DPS ratio.
So there will be :
-Solo que 3s
-Traditional Team 3s
-RSS 5s
Boom. PvP is poppin again. Add me to the payroll Blizzard.
Or you know, they could try either incentivizing healing, or make it less terrible to heal. It’s a super successful mode as far as DPS are concerned, minus queue times. Blizzard is just literally putting their head in the sand as far as the healing isssue is concerned, and are making no attempts at actually pulling healers into it via external motivators, or adjustments to the heavy dampening.
why would they adjust dampening? so games can last 45 min after you sit in a 45 min-1.5 hr que then? no thanks.
They accommodated healers with the 25% stat trinket bonus, heals are outrageous.
Giving them gold or extra incentives isnt going to make 300% more healers start queing.
Probably because it starts at 30% and amps up INSANELY fast, on top of classes having mortal strikes that stack with it.
People still go oom. Dampening is just insanely abrupt in its effectiveness, and is part of what makes healing it so brutal. Whole point is to try to make it where you’re in more games and not sitting in those 45 min queues. Oh no those games go a bit longer, QQ.
Except they nerfed it for healers and had it buff mostly our stam instead.
You know what’s going to not get healers to start queueing? Doing absolutely nothing, like what they’re currently doing. Zero harm in trying to address the issue with extra rewards.
So adjusting dampening lower would make matches take longer, which even if slightly more healers qued, que times would still be the same, because you’d be waiting longer for healers to finish their matches.
The format doesn’t work.
Too many dps play, not enough healers. The solution is increase the number of dps (5v5 instead of 3v3) for RSS. (Remove Dampening)
If 4 dps 1 healer on each team, there is twice as many DPS going into each que, ques are twice as fast. Or if they make a 4v4 format eventually with 2 dps 1 healer 1 support? idk.
like how they are adding a support class (new evoker tree) that could factor into RSS somehow.
or they could revert the crit nerf, and remove dampening completely. /shrug
Simply the best route though would be to make Random 3v3 Solo Ques. Pre selecting desired comps before queing. Would funnel people in from 3s and RSS to one format.
Then people who like the Shuffle aspect can que 5v5 RSS for meme’s.
90% of shuffle is abusing the meta/counter comps youre placed in, or targeting the worst defensive / lowest iq player anyways.
There used to be lots of successful 1 healer 5v5s before the format was removed. Would be even better now with all the self healing thats in the game.
What about an option for 3 dps vs 3 dps (with a limitation like only for 1800 rating and lower, for ppl only playing for mogs ?)
For healers, you could add a bonus to mmr earned
They specifically didn’t do this because it would be a much worse system overall. Choosing specific comps will cause those not playing meta specs to sit insanely long q’s.
quite the opposite, you can que for any and all comps, so if you’re selecting less desired comps, you will sit in shorter ques, meta comps would be the longer ones most likely.
So if your playing the spec that everyone wants to play with, in the best comp in the game. You’re getting longer q’s? Your the hottest commodity, it’ll be like your qing healer in current shuf. But then people playing things that are bad in the meta that most people aren’t looking for are going to get longer q’s. That’s just how it would work.
You realize how bad the experience is in just keeping two people alive as a healer right? You really think adding two more to that is going to have a positive effect on queues? Theoretically you get twice the bang for your buck, realistically more than half the healers queuing solo shuffle would likely just quit instead of doing 5’s. Even without dampening, people would just die instantly the first CC the healer sat. You forget to take into account how much longer it’d take to shuffle through all the different combinations of that 5v5 as well.
That’s literally just going to be tank spec 2.0
I still think people would be able to secure kills at a certain % of dampening. It exceeding that % and just completely negating all your heals is where it gets toxic. It’s just a sliding scale that needs to be adjusted some - OR offer actual, tangible rewards.
As someone who did 5’s back in the day, yeahhhh. You always went 2 heals 3 dps if you were queueing a real team.
No one’s suggesting they remove dampening completely. It’s just that it starts at 30%, and cranks up to ridiculous proportions within two minutes. They could either cap it at 50% dampening, or they could make it where it still ramps up fast, but starts at 0% instead.
That’d just be imba and frustrating if it actually played out. You’d get stuck with that bad healer, and the enemy team wouldn’t, and you wouldn’t get the chance to even out your rating by playing with the good healer. They were actually very smart in how they designed this system.
I do think that game mode could be fun, but I think it’d have to be 2 heals 3 dps… which doesn’t actually cope with that healer situation much at all.
I mean, it’s random, you don’t get to pick anything other than your spec.
Not too far off normal arenas.
I know in wotlk the most successful teams were 2 heals 3 dps. 1 and 4 could potentially blitz to get a win, but man that healer could eventually get crucified.
Just kinda removes the skill aspect of the game, and likely would be absolutely miserable for a lot of dpsers.
Let’s not require a healer for solo shuffle. Sure, they can still join solo shuffle. But don’t make it mandatory to have one for everyone’s queue to pop. To make it fair, if one side randomly gets a healer, then both sides should have one. But if one side has 3 dps, then the other side should also have 3 dps. There should be no fights with one side having a healer and the other side having 3 dps.
Why won’t they at least implement that? This way everyone can still queue and healers will still be used… only now they won’t be mandatory.
Seems like a simple quick fix until all the underlying issues can be resolved which will take more time.
Rounds would last about 20 seconds if that. I empathize with the long queues, I really do. Making the game mode trash to fix those queues isn’t the solution though.
ngl i think the healthiest form of solo q would be a solo q that feeds into the live 3v3 ladder
the issue was always that lower rated players or players with less accolades couldn’t get games frequently enough to justify the time spent in lfg
solo q feeding into the 3s ladder lets all the lost lfg souls get into games but it also incentives them to make connections through that opportunity once they’re at the mmr that random/nocommunication is too challenging
obviously the rating is a moving target but no voice random comp wouldn’t even be a significant disadvantage until higher than most of that segment of players gets anyways and at that point the lack of communication being a handicap would serve as an incentive to build a network and try to queue premade
