Solution to boosting

Make all gear same ilvl, none of this nonsense tier upgrades…
This would solve the gear problem, but might still be a skill gap but this is a start…

Or a real solution to boosting is that you can’t lose rating. If you work your way up to 2100, just because you lose a few games doesn’t mean you have forgotten how to play at 2100 level.

Letting people with 1800+ ranking play at 1200 is like having a MLB team play against a Tee-Ball team. It isn’t fun or fair.

If you are 1100 and queue with a 1600 you should match at 1600. This means the booster must be good enough to kill at their own level instead of stomping people well below them.

This is just bad… Not everyone can keep playing the same comp, same team mates, and believe it or not but for most people you need to keep playing on a consistent basses to maintain you’re skill level.

That’s not a real solution.

Unless I’ve misunderstood you, it seems you are confused about hidden MMR vs CR. Preventing players from losing CR below a threshold does not make their MMR change. If you clamp MMR in this fashion, someone who went on a late-night lucky win-streak might then be stuck facing teams against which they have a 25% winrate and stop playing.

Worst idea I’ve ever heard on these forums lol. Were you being serious? How do you propose that would ever work? I’ve beaten rank 1’s in games before. Think that makes me better than them? Not even close.

Also, why are people obsessed with the notion that everyone who plays together has to be at the exact same skill level? This isn’t true in games or in real life. People play with a variety of people. Many people learn the most from playing with those better. Is it just the alleged payments that irritate people? No one even has proof of that.

People lose rating all the time. Lots. They lose it through doing honest games. Also, buffs and nerfs are a thing. Specs that are OP and are nerfed have to deal with the reality that they may have been broken. That isn’t a real solution.

It’s 100% fair. What’s not fair is thinking that every 1200 player is garbage and needs their hand held so the bad person won’t hurt their feelings.

The best way to ‘fix’ boosting is just update how MMR works slightly. Have it weight more heavily against the person with the higher MMR, rather then it being a mix of the two ratings. To that, also make the greater difference between the two ratings, the harder it is to earn rating. So if you have a 2k player carrying a 1200 player, make the amount earned per win substantially lower. Likewise, make the amount lost per loss substantially higher.

Just ban the obvious boosters, when you got a bunch of obvious rank 1/glad gear wearing people streaming themselves exploiting matchmaking / smurfing for content, just make an examplet out of them instead.

Removing gear because of boosters is like removing 5v5 bracket because of wintrader, the game feature should not suffer so the streamer can have their “content”.

Except those people boosting arent doing anything wrong, unless they are doing it for RMT. Not saying im ok with it, just pointing out that little flaw.

Honestly the bigger problem in arenas currently is RBG players in arena. It is horrifically easy to get 1800 in RBG’s. I see people with <50% win rate in RBG’s with 1800 rating. Run into these players probably 20x more often then I run into boosters.

Hopefully this will be fixed in 9.1, one rank of gear from BG’s, one rank of gear from rated.

They can change the rule, just like multiboxing rule. In any other PVP online game, manipulating matchmaking is a bannable offense.

People like Xaryu has been playing at 3k MMR in 2v2, when these people lurking around 1600 rated match intentionally (let’s be real, he can get out of that bracket anytime he want, he intentionally stay there for content/bully), either the matchmaking system is broken or the player is exploiting it.

Rating should be skill level of player and should be account wide and gear earned in one area shouldn’t transfer to another bracket. Blizzards design causes toxicity and imbalance. Its like chess grand masters getting paired with amateurs. It’s garbo.

So by that logic, A player that hits 2500 and makes an alt should start at 2500 rating on their brand new toon?

Yes. They have the skill for 2500. A new toon doesn’t change that.

The current gearing system does, would be impossible to earn conquest.

The best solution IMO is gear scaling, if you are playing in the 1400 bracket your gear drops to 207. This is all moot since in 9.1 It looks like we are going back to BG gear being one Ilvl and arena gear being another.

who hasnt beating r1’s in game b4, nm diff rdruid my bad.

That still matches players with those far beyond their capability.

Just do what other PVP game does, you can’t queue with or into people 2 tier or 400 rating below you (based on highest rating, no matter what bracket it is), if you do, you activate penalty mode.

Penalty mode
When people queue with someone 2 tier below him, they will be matched with a team with similar MMR to the highest MMR person on their team (the booster’s MMR), and when they win, the rating gain is halved and the rating loss is doubled.

Gear scaling is dumb, at that point i’d rather have stats template back.

Gear scaling is basically you still have to do all the chores (farm Honor etc) but can’t reap the reward (playing with good gear).

Like seriously i’d rather have stats template at that point where gear means nothing or the current system, literally anything other than gear scaling.

I’ve always liked templates for rated. I feel like gear rewards of high item level have their place in pve and random pvp environments, but anything rated, skill should be the most important thing. You should still get the gear rewards for rated, but I feel it shouldn’t benefit you in the actual rated environment.

So then you are saying that past PVP experience is meaningless? That every expac is a new PVP experience and there is nothing that holds over from experience?

That if you queued as a warrior you would play poorly if you weren’t with the EXACT same comp as before? That sounds ridiculous. If you know how to play your class then you know how to play. You can be rusty, but you don’t forget the basics and positioning.
