I’ve been enjoying the Solo Arena Shuffle immensely as it offers a unique and engaging gaming experience. However, I’ve noticed that the queue times for DPS roles can be excessively long, sometimes reaching up to 30 minutes before joining a match. This situation is quite frustrating, reminiscent of long wait times in MOBA games, which often deter players from continuing the game.
To address this issue, I propose a simple solution. Given that many players tend to play multiple characters, why not require each player to have a healer character as part of their roster? This could be enforced as a prerequisite for joining the queue. The matchmaking system could then randomly assign the healer role to a player in each match. This process could be further refined using a credit system to optimize role distribution. Implementing this change could drastically reduce queue times, potentially to mere seconds.
Moreover, I suggest shifting the focus of arena gameplay towards a Solo Shuffle format, akin to MOBA games, and introducing more defined ranking tiers such as Gold, Diamond, Master, and Conqueror. Coupled with adjustments to the rewards and prizes, this could enhance player satisfaction and engagement.
in b 4 a certain someone goes “queue times are fine right now . just play a healer and you get insta queues” or some other vomit liek that lol

a band system could be optimized as to join the arena solo shuffle with a band instead of a single character .
i think solo shuffle could be the future of the pvp ,rather than the 3v3 or 2v2 .
this is the reason for why MOBA games are getting so popular .
no need thank if it is adopted.
Yea, once you have your war band in the next xpac, you just queue as the band. However, the issue might be that those with healers in their band never get to play a dps.

players will also play DPS role, better to optimize the system to let DPS players have the same queue experiences as healer is crucial .
Ah yes, the old force people to do things they dont want to do. Surely it would work this time right?
Theres no way people being forced to heal when they dont want to would severly reduce game quality or cause any other issues right?

People don’t wanna heal plain and simple. Suggestions I have seen which would be a huge change for people to get used to but will ultimately pay off are:
- Triple dps games but add a self healing mechanic similar to MoP warrior second wind to all players(I think Murphy first mentioned this). Doesn’t have to be the exact same, but something along the same lines. Could be in combination with a damage reduction aura in the arena.
- Triple dps games but one person is the “healer” where their damaging spells also heal teammates (similar to how fistweaver currently works). I think Setback originally mentioned this.
- Create a double dps only 2v2 shuffle bracket to siphon off players from the 3v3 shuffle bracket (can’t queue for both at same time). Unclog the 3v3 pipe by removing players from it that really don’t care to be there and just want slam games.
Regardless of what the solution is I know it won’t involve healers because there will never ever ever be enough people wanting to play the support role.
Eh, I really think it’s mostly having to do with it being the path of most resistance.

Do people not wait for healers in dungeons and raids anymore? If I look at my friends list about 1 in 15 play healers. Maybe this is only my experience.
Uh, doesn’t seem/feel to be much of a shortage for keys although healing dungeons is a little…odd? Like, you go from picking up the pieces of a run where nobody stops anything while also standing in everything to sort of being a bad dps that’s there for a dispel, cc and healing check every 20-45 seconds when in an actual group.
Too biased against raids to have an actual answer for those.
Healing LFG M+ makes healing SS feel like I’m playing w AWC players
At least PVE is usually a little more transparent with what went wrong, like a cast went off, a swirly was stood in, a swirly wasn’t soaked, etc. More often than not it’s out of the healers hands, for better or worse.
Mid level keys are weird where people stop/avoid stuff but the content also isn’t high enough to really hurt you so you’re just kind of vibing.
I mean if healer shortages are only an issue in PvP and raids and dungeons have them readily available then sure it’s something other than the role itself. I admittedly haven’t PvE’d much ever and it’s been years since I even attempted to, but I remember waiting for tanks and healers as far back as TBC.
I was willing to heal when I could play prot. Melee healer fun times. Restore Prot Paladin to its early Shadowlands potential and make it so Prot Paladin cannot queue with healers. Boom, whole new pool of healers for shuffle.
Idk about raid but keys have a lot of mechanics for dps that can be ignored by them which then makes them tank/healer mechanics.
Why not come up with a good idea?

What’s the apprehension of just incorporating solo shuffle to regular arena?
A real soloq is what was asked for originally, instead we got this meme.

If solo queue was made one match, winner take all, queue times would be much lower, less rage, less leavers, etc.
But no, we can’t have nice things.
