Solo shuffle rating question

Is rating super inflated still? I’m playing with/against glads often at 1300-1400. Earlier this week I started healing arena/solo shuffle for the first time ever and am choosing to do it as resto shaman. The cc set ups sometimes keep me locked down for 12 seconds or more. I know I’ve got a LOT of L2P issues, but it seems like no matter what I ground, sheer, Los, cap totem, I inevitably end up in a ridiculously long cc chain.

Also climbing seems odd. I can win 4/5 rounds 3 matches in a row and gain little rating each match, then I’ll be on the receiving end of a heavy trouncing and lose 4 or 5 rounds in a match and my rating will drop back to basically where it was prior to the last 3 winning matches, basically making the last hour or so a waste of time.

Out of the 63 games I’ve played, it has me down as winning 59 of them and yet I’m sitting at 1400, meanwhile there is a resto shaman at 3290 with 37 games played with 36 wins. That seems like the calculation for rating is random to me.

Yes.

Bricked winrate.

No, there isn’t. If you’re going off the official armory then that’s bugged and counts any lobbies with even a single win as a “win”, so that’d be roughly 220 rounds played.

Im confused as to what you you mean by bugged. It sas hes played 212 rounds and won 151 of them.

Counts any lobbies with even a single win as a “win”.

Ahhh, still, 151 wins of 212 played seems odd to have a 3200 rating. My stats we better in lower ratings, but now im at 369 played 182 wins, thats a 50% win rate. His rating is roughly 75% but with far less games played.

Yeah FOTM shuffle is still super inflated, this toon is less than a week old and im already “Duelist.” #bmthings

No, not really. If you go 6-0 in your placements then you’re thrown up to 2000-2100 mmr. Win another 6 in a row after that and you’re probably like 2400. Think of it as quality of wins over quantity.

Their 70%+ winrate is against people that are like 3k mmr

You’re going even against people at 1300 mmr

The purpose of matchmaking is to get people to where they’re winning roughly half of their games because that is their skill level. Low winrate means that they haven’t stopped falling and high winrate means that they haven’t stopped climbing.

Okay, that makes more sense. Like i said in my op, new to arena really. Played a bit as enhancement in 2v2 over the years but never actually tried. This is my first time ever trying arena as resto so i have a lot of L2P issues.

Thank you for clearing that up for me.

Yeah, it’s definitely not the most intuitive thing, especially the rating losses when going positive thing.

Like i said, i can have 3 matches with 5 rounds won each, then a match where i win 1 or 2 and lose 4/5 and im back to where i started 4 matches ago.

Gotta win more.

That’s all there is to it.

Winrate is flat or slightly negative.

I get that, I was just confused as to how rating was calculated, all cleared up now though.

Best of luck on your climb. :dracthyr_love_animated:

Thank you. Its a big learning curve for me. Most all of my healing pvp experience over the years comes from bgs, and what little arena I’ve done has been in 2v2 as enhancement, so yeah, big shock to the system.

Shadowlands season 2 mount?
The black dragon with silver armor?

Glad title.

Every spec has it’s own rating though. Their main spec could be Fire and then respec Frost or Arcane and they’re back to 0 rating. Most likely are on a spec they just don’t main if they’re glad and that low. That or they just afk’d a ton and lost 150 points not caring.

I wonder if that’s a fast/easy way to grind for conquest points for alts.

Drop low and then get 3 wins each game.

I’d say healing at low mmr if you’re not terrible would be the fastest. Can’t imagine sitting in 20 minute queues as dps, so an hour, just to 6-0 some lobby and shoot up again.
