why am i in greens facing against people at 2.2k mmr. i haven’t played this game in over a year so i thought i’d get put at 1.5k mmr

MMR rolls over between seasons to some degree, for better or worse.

Okay, if you’re 2500 one season you’ll start the next at 2200. This season might’ve had an even stronger rollover where if you were 2500 you’ll be 2400 or something.

Basically the inflation of last season didn’t reset and we’re currently in season 3 pt2. Inflation last season put people at like 1800 and depending on your prev xp, you might have started a bit higher.

Anyways, that’s why you can push 2400 one season, not play for 5 months, come back and get thrown up at 2300 mmr in full honor gear. Yeah, it stinks, but it’s also one of those attempts to fix the “why are there multiglad r1 boosters ruining my 1600 mmr lobbies”.
You’re meant to be able to lose a lot to fall to where you need to be but that feels terrible as healer and worse as dps where you wait 40 minutes to go 0-6 and get nothing.

In league I remember my intro games putting me into gold after winning a few. It’s just the MMR system trying to find your spot.

same thing happoened to me just this morning
my crap gear warriorthat i have very little xp on … i get put into 1950 mmr lobby vs ppl with 4 piece tier bonus… on my very first game…

my hairline has receeded but i am far from balding
because they should have reset the darn mmr but didnt want to spend the money because the next xpack is the new baby they care about lol
yeah I agree. the very least they could do is reset the mmr for people who haven’t played last season and NOT reset the mmr for the people who have played last season.
Gear doesn’t even make as big of a difference as it used to.

I think its fairly valid. I definitely understand it can be frustrating but gearing right now is super easy.
If you’re wanting to push your shuffle rating, you can play 2s or 3s for some pretty quick conquest and do your daily bgs/epic bgs etc. Or if you dont really care about shuffle, having a big negative W/L will even out your mmr really fast and youll start winning.
