Solo queue question

Just returning from s1, so I just started doing solo queue, it started off great, but I’m averaging a 60% w/l ratio and can’t get out of the 1500s. When I win 5, I get 3-10 rating, when I win 6, I get 20~. But I just had a guy afk the first 2 games, I lose 2 as a result, and then the follow 4 he plays, so i go 2-4, and I lost 200 rating, so now to make up for that guys 2 afk games, I have to go 6-0 20 times? Was this how it was in open season, or is this a symptom of lack of people queuing or some other pre-patch condition? I have noticed I regularly play with people rated 0-2400.

Meanwhile I climbed to 1800 in 2s pretty effortlessly. Don’t feel like solo rating is currently a good descriptor of actual placement.

Why do you think that about 2s though if you really struggle in soloq at 1500? Maybe you got 1800 there because you play a fotm comp? Soloq is more played, so it should be easier to achieve higher ratings there as the mmr is more inflated.

As a healer, you mostly have to look onto the other healer, as you don’t really compete with the dps. If he is lower mmr than you, you basically need to win 4 to get rating and mmr. If you are the lower rated one, 3 are fine to gain rating. Maybe even with 2 you still get something. If you can achieve 4 or more there, you are going to climb.

Because in 2s, I lose 7-9 rating, then win 12-13. In solo, I lose 200, I win 20.

That means either your cr is way above your mmr or you are only facing low mmr healer, so the mmr system expects you to win most of the games. There is no magic behind.

Works the same in 2s but there your mmr seems higher than your cr for w/e reasons. 2s is also considered to be easier than 3s as there is only one team mate you need to heal and only 2 opponents you need to take care of.

But that doesn’t mean soloq mmr is bugged or something.

My mmr was like 20 higher than my CR, I’m mostly referencing my shadow priest, this guy I haven’t done solo in a few days.

Last week I was gaining exponentially more cr per wins @ 1500. I dunno. 200 vs 20 seems wild.

200 cr though must be bugged with 2-4. Even when you would lose all 6 rounds it wouldn’t result in -200 cr. Only when you would be like 2500 while your enemies are at 1500 you could lose so much rating. -27 per loss is usually the most you would drop.

-27 * 4 + 5 * 2 = -108 + 10 = -98 rating

Anything more than -100 rating for a 2-4 on not too extreme mmr differences must be considered as bug, when your cr is close to your mmr!

One solo shuffle game must be considered as 6 arena games. Lets say your mmr and cr are both around 1500. Now you get into a group with an average mmr of like 1350. Even when you win 4 games of that, you most likely won’t gain much rating.

1500 - 1350 = 150 mmr difference

For a win versus them you won’t get more than 11-12 rating I guess:

11 * 4 = 44

When you lose, you will drop 20-21 rating per lose:

21 * 2 = 42

That will result in

44 - 42 = 2

So in total you would just get like 2 - 6 rating. When you lose 200 rating with 2-4 while you only drop 150 rating for leaving the game, I would write a ticket.

Or you are just one of those solo shuffle haters who is lying now.

I love solo, I just don’t get the ratings. What you said makes sense, I told you I’m 1500, half of the people in the lobby are 0-500 as they are new chars climbing. It’s likely a condition of lack of queuers resulting in lower rated people filling slots. So, like I suggested, a prepatch condition.
