Solo queue for rated BGs

PLEEEEAAAASEEEEEE!!!

I like BGs. I really like them. There are goals, there is strategy, there is all sorts of fun moments.

Arena on the other hand… It’s just a deathmatch. It’s fine if that’s your thing, but it isn’t mine.

I just wanna have fun with BGs. Without having to join a guild only for that where they will give me strict play times and tell me what to use.

I hate having to queue arena just to get rating.

PS: I’ll bake you a cake if you add this. On someone else’s oven since I don’t have one.

PS2: This does not count as bribery, it’s only food!!!

the playerbase asked for a rated version of skirmishes, and we got the abomination that is solo shuffle, it started out fun, but the more people play it the more problems it has. do you really want to spend 6 hours in queue because pvers think you need to be shuffled around 8 hundred times to be “fair”? do you really want to spend an hour of your time sitting through a shuffle you know will be bad before it even starts because of the lobby, but have no choice because of draconian afk restrictions?

I want to do rated BGs. I don’t want to play only at N time with N gear in a guild.

To my experience of arena shuffle so far, it’s about as good as it was when I had a team, except I can queue whenever I want. It’s way better with the shuffle IMO. You get to know everyone a little by the 2nd or 3rd match. No random getting nuked before you even figure out the enemy team.

If you don’t like it, that’s ok. You don’t have to do it. All of the content in the game is optional, and it’s not like they replaced default teams with the solo queue.

Regular BGs are a bit to large for random solo queue.

It would need to be reduced to 6v6 or 7v7. And limit it to one tank and one healer. This way the queues will be quicker. And it lets the healer act like a quarterback who needs to make pivotal decisions because there is no way one healer can be at all objectives healing everyone. A good healer will need to be situationally aware of a lot.

And most important… the battlegrounds will have no idiotic “unnatural” healer debuffs making the game mode unfun for those who like to heal.

Oh… and make sure to balance the PvP around these solo queue BGs and not arena. PvP should never have been balanced around arena.

Do you think players should be able to desert RSS without penalties?

Balancing PvP around arena suddenly solves many mysteries… I always thought BGs were the main thing, specially given how many there are and how much more complex they get.

Still, I’m rather happy with the improvements they made over the years returning to WoW after a long break. With the exception of removing the ability to use some toys in BGs… like… is a cosmetic funzy thing too much? Like how?!

Another thing that comes to mind: Is voice chat in arenas/bgs from within the game a thing? Because I have no attention span to read the chat unless I’m dead or waiting for something.

If the toy was specifically disabled for bgs, it was probably being used in a manner that negatively affected the game.

i think the whole shuffle design is bad and should be scrapped in favor of simple mmr balanced rated skirmishes. 1 bad lobby is just that game, in and out quick.

that’s debatable. one of the critisms of RSS is that it would kill and defate the 2s and 3s brackets, which has happened. 0-1400 in arena should be like wailing on test dummies that move, but this expac the ladders are so deflated you already start running into glad alts by 1200 and 1600 mmr feels like 2100 used to.

Something needs to change and we need rated content more accessible to the casual playerbase. Either a solo only queue, or a queue similar to what we have now. Rated mode with an ilvl requirement for 1-5 players with an MMR.

I know that the idea of Rated Solo BGs sounds cool on paper. But the execution would be an absolute nightmare. There are just too many variables to control for.

Let’s finally embrace mixed faction unranked pvp and boost the conquest earnings for wins in unranked.

Also, I don’t see Blizzard moving forward with solo-rated battlegrounds because they have already seen what solo shuffle did to the arena ladder. The RBG ladder is already a ghost town, solo RBG shuffle would bury it for good.

I stopped doing RBGs when cheating/exploiting/DDoSing took over the bracket.

RBGs became associated with some of the worst behavior you’d see in WoW.

You will never find a more wretched hive of scum and villainy.

this i can agree on, i rarely see actual real cheating, its usually pvpers arguing over creative use of mechanics, but the few occasions i have seen legit cheating such as flying and lag tricks has been in rated. we recorded it, reported it, and uploaded it to youtube.

Everyone keeps saying this, but i’m sure most people would just love to click a button and join a game without the hassle.

Who cares if you get an off-meta tank, when you’re a player who wouldn’t otherwise be able to play rated at all?

Plus, I’ve seen others play RBGs without a tank and do just fine. We may find that a new meta may evolve from a rated solo queue.

Just look at the 3v3 bracket VS Solo Shuffle Bracket…

SS: 1800+

  1. Ret Pally
  2. Holy Pally
  3. Unholy DK
  4. Spriest
  5. Balance Druid
  6. Mistweaver
  7. Disc priest
  8. Arms Warrior
  9. Fury Warrior
  10. Destro Warlock

3v3: 1800+

  1. Holy Paladin
  2. Spriest
  3. Balance Druid
  4. WW Monk
  5. Arms Warrior
  6. Ret Pally
  7. Resto Shaman
  8. Unholy DK
  9. Resto Druid
  10. Preservation Evoker

Several of them are on both lists, but the meta is different between the two.

i like how ret gets a category all by itself.

You just described unranked battlegrounds.

Increasing rewards for unranked BGs is a lot more viable (and frankly more realistic) than a solo-ranked RBG queue.

You’ve seen how long DPS queues are for solo shuffle arenas, and that’s just trying to find 2 healers to fill a six-person queue. Now extrapolate that to now having to find six healers and 2 tanks.

Haha whoops!

I’m willing to bet that healers are much more willing to queue into and heal a rated BG than they are a Solo Shuffle.

Also, I’ve been here a long time. A long, long time. I posted this nearly a decade ago, and I was met with hundreds of responses on why we shouldn’t change anything. “It’s already easy to get into”, “Just find a group”, “People are just lazy”

Do you know where those people are now? They’re gone. They left. The casuals left. Everyone left. People will say why things can’t be done until Blizz closes the bracket for lack of participation, then they’ll ask why blizz didn’t do more to keep it alive.

Rated Battlegrounds are old news, and it has no place in modern WoW.

But if I can queue with a healer and a tank, and get placed with others in a group or others who have chosen Rated BG’s with the required Ilvl, then that can make a huge impact on the current state of Rated BG gameplay.

Speaking as a PVP healer, I would disagree. Solo shuffle is incredibly toxic and frustrating. I don’t know how many are going to jump at the opportunity to get even more rage whispers per match.

I’ve been here since Molten Core too, and I know that a lot of people’s requests for accommodations have been brushed off over and over.

I’m all for speeding up people’s acquisition of conquest gear. These days I don’t think gating conquest behind rated content is as big of a motivator as it once was. And as you have alluded to as well, the times, are much different than they were once during old times. So I’m fully on board with trying new things and adapting to what the wow player base wants.

PVP is a dying portion of the game, keeping up established barriers to entry and viability is stupid and counterproductive.

If Blizzard wants to bring Solo RBG Shuffle to the mix, that’s cool, nothing ventured, nothing gained. I personally wouldn’t touch it with a ten-foot clown pole. I would much rather see increased rewards for unranked content and an end to faction vs faction in unranked.

All it did was cosmetic. I cannot imagine anything negative other than maybe someone being annoyed at it. So I’m really curious what even brought it up.

YES, EXACTLY!

“RBGS are a ghosttown”, I mean, how many people do not do them for the exact same reason I listed? Normal Bgs are plentiful with well geared people.

You just described unranked battlegrounds.

That or just remove rated requirements to upgrade gear that will only be used for… open world pvp and PvE? What’s even the point? This makes no sense. This is the only reason i’m even doing arenas at all.

I’d still love to do rated BGs even with no upgrade goal, but… just WHY?!
