I agree with you, I just fear the BS ratings bashing for a couple reasons… First that when you have ratings (visible MMR) the coiners will 100% buy a carry for ratings they factually do not deserve, this spawns a lot of RMT and some really nasty behavior we don’t have in Era because we don’t have any kind of “ratings” in PVP.
Having my team come down on me because I want to inv someone who I know is a great player (arena R1 player) and because his RBG rating was literally Zero, they freaked out, and were fully not gonna “risk it” because of that.
And while I also understand that Arena and RBG’s are different with very different skill sets, just as BG’s are very very different style of play from World PVP requiring a different way to play, talent, even consumes in some cases… The Visible MMR contributed a lot to some really crappy behavior in Retail that I would rather not have take place here.
This community is 100X better than anything in retail since around WoD, Retail Rated PVP had some elitism from around OG Wrath and was still tolerable until very early WoD but something happened in WoD that people just got really elitist and even more disgusting is that it killed the PVP community…
Worse Blizzard does so little to combat cheating post WoD, and when you add visible MMR it does increase the incentive for cheating.
So I find myself both wanting MMR and not wanting MMR… If the MMR is fully invisible so that players can never see / detect it; I am 100% onboard for that because it will greatly improve the quality of games we get to play while preventing a lot of the crappy behavior that is displayed in a system with visible MMR.
Perhaps Titles awarded per Rating at the end of the season? BUT keep the MMR invisible no matter what so that players cannot game the system and become vile turds.
