Solo Q Suggestion

{Scenario:} Player leaves early, ending the game

—> Players that remain still receive rating changes, based on performance to that point

(( no negative rating is rewarded. If the player performed poorly, they will receive 0-rating ))

Terrible idea, you want free rating?

If a player leaves, they get a penalty. Maybe deserter. The inability to queue for an hour, or half an hour. Maybe it increases like resetting your talents back in the day with an ever increasing fee. Unless this already exists. I haven’t tried ranked solo q yet lmao.

If they leave consecutive games, or maybe even just enough games within a certain time frame, regardless of them being consecutive, maybe apply the debuff to the account.

No. What I want is if I play 3-4 matches, I get something for it…instead of feeling like I just wasted my time.

Im open to suggestions if you have something better to help in this one, specific area

Issue with his is that if one guy comes in, loses 3 rounds then leaves then the people who played against him get a bunch of points and those who didn’t aren’t given an opportunity to recover.

So we’re down to forcing the rest of the matches to play out OR having the remaining games count as losses for those with the leaver.

This is the reason it wont work.

Thats a good suggestion. Maybe ding them hard ratings-wise too, since we dont have to worry about the boosters in SoloQ.

Here’s the question…how does the game tell the difference between someone leaving, and someone getting disconnected randomly?

I can think of a few things but all of them involve blizzard doing more work. Which I don’t think will happen.

Call me jaded but I’m of the opinion that the only thing that suits blizzard is something they can automate and slap onto people before reviewing / without the option for appeal.

Good point. It’s tricky to apply punishment without a dedicated moderation team or something of that effect. Hm.

Well, my suggestion for this was the players remaining either receive positive rating points, or no rating changes at all (if they did poorly).

Also, these amounts could be minimal too, scaled down based on the amount of games.

The point would be to simply give those that stuck around some sort of reward, so we dont feel like we just wasted our time.

im open to ideas regarding this specific issue

Honestly its not going to work, you have to punish leavers and make them play skirms without leaving until they earn the right to play the mode again + deserter buff. It works well for Dota2, cant see why they cannot do it for WoW.

Im open to harsher punishment for those that leave, but then the next question that comes to mind is:

“what about if you just got disconnected” which happens, often outside our control?

Then you get a deserter buff and wait because your internet is down anyway?

i want free rating please

It should try to be intelligent as well.

If someone leaves or “disconnects” because they have 0 wins, then you know they did it on purpose.

If someone has a bunch of wins it could be a legit disconnect.

Should definitely be an account wide ban for leaving and you get rating or decreased rating up that point

I suggested something similar.

Hit solo queue leavers in all rated pvp modes. Lock their ability to earn rating behind an escrow so to speak, where they will have to play for zero earnings until they make up the deficit, set by the penalty.

Then no one will risk it. Because as of now solo queue is going to be a conquest faucet for people who prioritize 3v3s. Threaten thier gains there, and they either never touch solo again or never leave a solo game again, win win.

Theres no perfect solution. There is a con to everything. I think the solution they have now is probably close to the best one you can get. Hopefully the system works itself out so you only have that happen on real dcs or emergencies.
