no they aren’t, they are saying stuff like wanting valor or some other currency to drop from WQs so they can upgrade their items.
and then when we ask them why they need 220 gear they just go “so we can do our WQs faster.” they don’t want to work for the upgrades, they just want to be given the gear for little work
I do not understand why “people are quitting the game because of it.”
Does that suggest that at some point the game did have meaningful progression for solo players and doesn’t any more?
It never offered Mythic+… until it did. And the game was better for it doing so.
Opening up new ways to engage with the game in a meaningful way is beneficial for everyone, even if you don’t choose to take advantage of it yourself.
Because they like the game. They like the core action of engaging with the game. They’re interested in the world… then they hit end-game and realize there’s nothing for them. So they quit.
This green poster isn’t acting like a helpful part of the community. Did their account get hacked?
I play with two other people, so scaling content that I could progress through without having to speed run against timers in dungeons, or deal with a large group of people I don’t know and have no interest in knowing, would be a great way to keep us engaged with the game.
That’s not “lazy” by any rational definition. I think the green got handed out by mistake here.
Yeah, again you don’t speak for me ok. And last time I looked, my money was still good around here. I would love to have a solo dungeon - that challenged me. Love it. I’d love for TC to offer me something at the end of layer 8 or whatever the highest layer would be - that’d be great. Super awesome.
I found TC to be challenging to solo - layers 7 and 8 anyway - and felt great when I had did them. Because of the way it’s set up and the power options, I had to grow my playstyle - learn new tricks, try new things to get it done. But now, there’s nothing for somebody like me to do. And I really would love there to be something that way.
So stop grouping everybody into the - we want free handouts - pile, because it’s just not true.
It did. That’s typically one of the big drivers of the drop-off of players am onth or two into the expansion.
But just because a problem has existed a long time doesn’t mean it can’t be fixed. Or that it isn’t a problem.
As I said elsewhere: We didn’t hafve a way for 5-man players to remain engaged with the game for a long time… but then Blizzard came up with Mythic+ as an idea, and now we do. And it’s a great improvement.
Back in classic, there was no competitive pvp. Just zerg-fests in battlegrounds and killing faction leaders. But in TBC they realized there was an opportunity for competitive small group pvp… and the game is better for arena existing.
This is a similar case. There’s a problem. It can be fixed. There’s little reason not to.
I just don’t find that a compelling argument.
No offense, but if we are talking about players who play for 2 months then quit because they don’t like anything in the end game, I am unsure if Blizzard would properly care about changing their minds.
Regardless, its important to realize that this is not something that would happen in a vacuum. It would be taking resources away from content that is currently in line with the game’s goals.
You are right to suggest this also happened with M+ though, so there is a chance.
But I remain unconvinced that anyone in that boat you described would change how they play the game long term.
Still, I would be in favor of it, if it could be handled properly, which I do not think it could ever be.
That sounds awful. Why would you want to do that? A couple folks have Corridor Creepers in my guild and they considered it a slog to reroll until they had a set of steamroll anima powers.
Torghast is not suitable as a foundation for solo progression.
Visions are a good example for sure, but only existed for what, 10 months total?
Still, I wish torghast could relive some of that, but it won’t because of its lack of entry fee, seemingly.
Well of course you’re unconvinced. You believe half this community is just too lazy to engage with the game.
I don’t really care about convincing someone who assumes the worst about so many people they’ve never met.
I’d rather convince Blizzard, who seem to think somewhat highly of their community. At least publicly.
When I look at arena, my thought is “Why would you wnat to do that? That sounds AWFUL!” but that’s because it isn’t catered to me personally. And that’s fine. You don’t like Torghast. Your guildies don’t like Torghast. Others do. Conceptually, I think Torghast would be an interesting option, but it would definitely need some reworking. However, it is certainly one such possible option.
Best of luck!
I think the odds would be against you, sadly.
If Blizzard did care about this, this would have been addressed many years ago.
It seems clear to me that they admit, likely due to limited resources, they will not be able to accommodate every single type of player the game contains, and instead they will keep those who do align with their goals as committed as possible.
I mean, have you seen the response about Legion raids?
That seems like a clear indication that they simply do not care at all about players who might refuse to group up even for trivially easy content, doesn’t it?
Maybe not for many, but I’d like something to be done in there. It’s a wasted opportunity. I did that back in January - once you have all it offers there’s no benefit to return. I still do it - because it’s something to do - but I mean, this is just a sad sad state of affairs. I’ve been pretty much a solo artist since… gee, probably Legion - no, actually WoD - no, Legion. Anyway, this is the worst I’ve seen it for stuff to do in my opinion and experience. That’s all just my opinion, which you can take or leave obviously.
I mean, I’m not going to judge them since I don’t know their motivations. Maybe there’s a bug with legion and bfa raids introduced by some facet of their scaling that they haven’t found a way to fix yet. shrugs Who knows?
But it would be a lot easier to convince people if people like you weren’t so openly, and unreasoningly, hostile to the idea… if we could present a unified face as players that ‘ya, I’m okay with solo players having a cool progression path too and think it would be a good idea’, it’d maybe convince BLizzard it’s worth it.
But instead we have people saying ‘well there’s no point. Everyone who doesn’t group is just lazy so who cares about them?’
