SoD Starting Without GDKP

Most definitely. When SoD was released, it was a deadtime for not only WoTLK, but also Retail. Then you have the huge crowd that was wanting something “more” from classic, and SoD was promising classic with changes from the base game.

We’ll see how it actually goes when we see the popularity with these fresh classic servers. You have the vocal minority doomposting on the forums saying that its DoA because of no GDKP. Maybe we’ll see something later down the line in terms of longevity when raids are more relevant, but I still expect a surge of players at launch.

Sorry Bullkakke these are the consequences.

ROFLMFAO!!

This aged well.

I’m not Elron and it’s against the community guidelines to continually call someone out of their name.

Well maybe if you didn’t act or post like Elron people wouldn’t call you Elron? Just a thought if you are not Elron i apologize for calling you them.

The reality is that GDKP bans have been implemented for over a year, and they are now being extended to new servers. It appears that Blizzard has reached a decision, and their experiment has been successful. The data received has led to the conclusion that the GDKP ban is more beneficial for the game than permitting its return.

That still doesn’t give you a right to call me out of name.

The reality is the Classic Classic will die off fast, just like Cataclysm. There’s an echo chamber in the decision room for Classic full of devs who have a conflicting interest with the overall success of the game.

The whole “you think you do” attitude hasn’t gone away. It just shifted hands.

I think phase 1 would have still been just as popular because most people were in initially playing to check out blizzards take on “classic+”

Anecdotally I know that myself and my guild stopped after the GDKP ban. Farming gold is just not something any of us find fun, and GDKP let’s you farm gold by just playing the content you want.

It’ll probably die off but it’ll have little to no correlation with the GDKP ban. It’ll be treated as the TBC waiting room and/or SoD AQ waiting room. GDKP wanters are in the vocal minority.

I would have to agree to an extent. I joined with the intention of doing GDKPs after the game had lost alot of it’s hype. If they would have mentioned the ban before I would have had serious questions about the long term value of investing time into those toons.

I still may have played, but I wouldn’t have been nearly as invested in the amount of toons I did without that info.

GDKP is the only reason why Era is still around.

Finding players to commit to a game is tough. And relying on them to do so every week is even more tough. Now remove potential rewards and see how many players are willing to invest the time.

P1 level cap was 250 or 25? So you invested what 7 hours leveling to 20 when the GDKP ban was added. Then decided to invest even more time into leveling and raiding threw all the phases to hit 60 knowing that GDKPs where banned. You have knowone to blame but yourself.

Then my copium shifted to “maybe there will be new content.”

Guess who cancelled both subscriptions last night?

If you’re just catching up to speed, I don’t even prefer to do GDKP. I’ve geared every main the “traditional” way.

Alright well enjoy your extra free time.

Don’t forget the $30+/month too!

Lol $30 wont even fill my tank in any of my cars. $5 a gallon for 93 and the each car has atleast 18 gallon gas tank

Why not both?

Both GDKP AND botting/goldselling are problems.

When GDKP exists it still creates incentive to farm unhealthy amounts of gold to pay for an advantage in a game where skill should be the way you ear your advantage.

This causes inflation REGARDLESS of botting/goldselling. Those only multiply the problem, and their removal doesn’t erase it.

A perfect world would ban all bots goldsellers AND GDKP runners.

Meet some friends, down some bosses.

“But my flexible schedule.”
I have been in 2 guilds (and i’m sure there are many more) that run multiple times a week. You can sign up for whichever ones fit you that week. Mega servers have all but eliminated this problem and all you have to do is communicate with people and you can find groups for anything.

GDKP is very unhealthy for inflation in these games. Period. Inflation is already an unsolvable problem, but to limit it as much as possible provides the best experience for the players.

Yeah but blizz needs to actually sync each account to a person so the perma bans can actually hold. If you perma ban an account its not hard to go get a new email and make a new account.

People say they want classic social experience

GDKP

Okay, idiots. Pick one. This is why Classic sucks and nobody played once the content was cleared first time and everyone got bored. It’s too time consuming to do anything and the population dips after a year of novelty wearing off.

No GDKP sucks. Stuck in the loop of dying guilds, joining new ones only to go from MT to rerolling a class you don’t want to play. No freedom of raiding when you want to. And RMT hasn’t been affected by it at all because that gold still gets bought and used for overpriced items and services.
