But why go to the past if you can make the game better? The easy way isn’t always the right way.
My main critique is that each release splits the community.
I don’t play classic because I don’t have much time, am relatively casual, and in general believe in spending my time where I enjoy - which is of course subjective - if you enjoy Classic, that’s great… and particularly in things that move on and grow with me over time.
Fair point.
On the other hand, it also brings back players that wouldn’t have otherwise played. Retail might have gained a few players as well due to returning players for classic whom ended up playing both, who knows what the actual effect is. I suspect it pulls more away but none of us know for sure.
Hey, that’s a really good point.
I guess indeed time will tell… but I hope to see WoW grow in general with SoD and the Saga, fingers crossed it will be well-received. If there are enough teams and tools, yeah, why not have past versions while also branching out to trying new things.
Frankly, I’m pretty much convinced it’s not as bad as I thought it was so thank you for your insights!
Maybe I should even check it out, given as there isn’t too much to do right now in retail except PvP.
i feel like the pvp is gonna be insanely scuffed and boring
rogues warriors and warlocks with the drain life augment are gonna ruin pvp and hunters too if chimera cranks hard enough
definitely catch me in ashenvale tho on the rp pvp realm
probably playing horde
I wouldn’t play SoD for PvP at all lol.
I’m sure the PvE part will be new and fun although likely unbalanced.
SoD PvP balance might make 10.2 DH and 07 Ret look pretty good in comparison.
Was that when Druids were playing w cheat codes activated?
naw at least for me been like that since day 1 of df season 3. some are saying that its cause im playing warrior but like huh??
Will tke the average players 3 days to be lvl capped with best gear at lvl 25 then theyll all come back on monday
i dont understand why people are so excited for the pve, other than the bfd raid which im assuming will be piss easy 30 minutes.
leveling process feels like its gonna just be the exact same snail pace kill one murloc drink and rebuff for 2 minutes repeat for an hour and spend 30 mins running back to questgiver for 2 bubbles of exp
age of Conan will kill wow
you know what mmo is actually still good – RIFT
At the end of the day, everyone is paying their $15+/mo. They don’t care what segment of the game that comes from. They captured the market back from private servers which was just free money sitting out there for them
It’s the only thing there is to be excited for. At the absolute best of times Vanilla PvP is unrepentant garbage. SoD is going to be even worse with monstrous imbalances that will probably put the Retpocalypse to shame.
There will be a day’s worth of fun to be had before the turbo meta is discovered and spammed. As bad as retail players are about being sheep, Classic manages to be 10x worse about it. It’s an entire playerbase of the most mediocre players you will ever see, who nonetheless treat the game like they’re trying out for a professional team.
Where Vanilla is worth anything is as a cooperative, social PvE game. Fresh server plus all the wacky changes; you get together with friends, throw up some parse attempts, and help eachother gear out for its own sake.
You just didn’t have an t2.5 and 3/5 r13 geared reckoning pally with hand of rag (MoM lately).
In SoD it will be much more OP. You will hit 5 autos + crusader strike and a seal proc in 1 global. And if enemy survives… you have divine storm and exorcism to finish him off.
You can swap exo for an endless tremor totem buff on yourself which paladins never had or will have (fear was always our worst enemy, except in SL when you could take a conduit for conc aura, which was nerfed late seasons anyway).
did you enjoy Shadowlands, BFA, Legion?
I’m Arena for Life BABY
True I didn’t have hand of rag.
I rerolled mage in Vanilla so I could be a real DPS. Not sure how the “classic balance” is but guilds generally didn’t want Ret DPS in Vanilla.
I was essentially one shotting with PoM pyro build though. Or as frost CSing a healer then poly while I killed their warrior then killing the healer. 2v1 could be done a lot easier in vanilla even when one was a healer. Back when healers died without damp 1v1 and warriors just had 1 charge then intercept and could be kited. Not a brag by any means it wasn’t that hard back then.
Saying it would set a new level was a figure of speech didn’t mean it literally.
The level cap is 25 rofl. No It’s not going to kill retail. Next few days might be a little worse ques
Bro I miss Rift…I want a remastered version so bad
