So I just learned that Blizzard is REMOVING developers from SoD and moving them to Classic Cataclysm. This really worries me. The SoD team was already too small and needed more developers and a larger team. It almost sounds like they used SoD to lure people back to WoW that weren’t interested in Classic and now they may be killing it by slowly transforming it into Classic. I played the original game, that’s why Classic didn’t interest me. If they do this I’m out. Anyone heard anything about this?

SoD was to keep those of us who have no interest in playing Cata.
((If not for ATT showing me I’m almost done…I’d have not logged into Classic Wrath since they launched SoD.))

its the same team who handles all of classic wow, you haven’t noticed aggrend is the lead dev for both wotlk and sod? and era, and hardcore

Probably for the simple fact that the devs of SoD are highly skilled and intelligent and probably have done months of work ahead of time while Blizzard is also relying on the default lvl 60 content to tide us all for a bit while they have a slower work speed for that period of time.
EDITED: Put more thought into it and realized its probably something else.
As well as the devs probably need more man power to finish cata so it comes out in time.
I bet phase 3 is mostly done, phase 4 won’t need much work at all, and the extra content at the end of 60 will be enough time for those devs to return.

Yeah I had forgotten about this. I need more coffee. The Classic WoW team is about 50 people and they work on all versions of Classic WoW. So on the video that is not yet uploaded, he has a mark that says “Devs FORCED To Work On Cata?!?!?” which is super click baity and disingenuous. They aren’t forced to work on anything, they’re just doing their jobs.

Well, judging from what devs did in sod. They clearly have no idea what classic was and how to improve it. Maybe cata is a better place for them or maybe Diablo 4 is even better for them.
For sod, I think we might have to move to a pserver in the future. I just wish pservers starting steamdeck support or I will afk again

SoD is currently suffering anyway. They made p2 runes too annoying to get: in that none of them are possible to do solo, and most require level 40. Can’t level with them like you could the previous ones. On top of that, gnomer isn’t something to get excited for. I know I’m not. I haven’t ran it yet, nor have I looked for an invite to it.
Based, only thing that could save sod is if they just left it alone.

No reason to pvp because they are committed to keeping it terrible and unfun
Only thing to do is level alts and raid log gnomer
Or just accept that SoD was a scam on both retail and classic players all along and stop expecting them to actually make positive changes.

Sometimes you just know what you like and don’t. To be fair, if it wasn’t for a tight nit group of friends speed running it, I’d have had no interest to run it more than once.
Whats dead is dungeon leveling in wotlk low level dungeons. Its like getting carried with heirloom. Mob speed runs. Trying to figure out a rotation order to actually playing my class… o wait all the mobs are dead… i feel if i had full heirloom in wotlk i could solo dungeons as a warrior… its like farming gammas. You dont get to learn you get to watch everyone mop the floor with every pack… so im just solo questing everything hard with ease and one piece of heirloom.
If you watch the comeback kids though he says this.

they’re looking for a change to the formula. retail mythic is completely dead after last race… and cata is the downfall of original population peak and inevitably classic death as well. They need to keep our revenue but they can’t figure out how.

Cata is already built lol. The amount of development Cata will require will take a few hours and a 6 pack of beer.
Everything is already built… its just to make sure the store still works, epic boosts transactions go through, and perfect… good to go!
Someone hasn’t tested on the Beta.
