this is pretty much how all of vanilla, classic , and seasonal classic servers are.
There is no M+ or other core pillars of gameplay that exist to keep people in between raids. Its still a large part of retail to raid log for some but a lot of the retailification that people complain about literally exists because as we can clearly witness from 2019 to now, people just raidlog in classic for the vast majority of the time they play.

I would argue the tedious nature of classic makes it a thousand times more “difficult.” I’m lvl 78 in TWW, reluctantly having fun

How difficult is it to figure out as a boomer would you say?
I treid shadowlands awhile back and I liked it partially but it became too complicated for me
there’s less bogged down systems you have to farm (like conduits/soul ash/etc in Shadowlands), a lot of hero trees for the classes are mostly passive interactions with your existing abilities.
class gameplay wise it’s about the same complexity level, maybe slightly more since DF reworked the talent trees completely, but as far as nonsense systems, there’s not really any of that it seems.
Dragonflight made decent changes to gear progression and TWW makes even more, higher level delves are going to give heroic level pve gear. PVP gearing is going to be nice, they increased conquest cap and removed it from vault so you don’t have to choose between a PVE and PVP upgrade, just buy PVP gear with conquest when the season starts.
