That’s actually a good point. If the event is going to run, the gates would be closed. You’d have to die a lot to get there but theoretically, we should be able to know the answer to this thread on day 1

Never got to experience this event properly
This is false.
I made the trek myself and the gate was open. I walked right up to the AQ40 instance no problem. I don’t know why you felt the need to lie about this.
As for me, that kills any motivation I had to play SoD. I just wanted to experience the event since it missed it the last two times.
Did you attempt to enter the portal and read the message?
It gave conditions.
One of which was that the gates must be open.
There are some things that are not entirely in place due to the level capping. For example the chest in Gurubashi Arena isn’t dropping because that zone is above the level cap.
Be patient.
It says that one classic era if you try to enter it without a raid group.
