So gear has a random chance for a socket. Does this include PvP gear or Vault Gear? I’m seeing Mythic gear with sockets and just curious cause they are super important now with the new gems. I know we got the 3 socket neck which is easy to attain but what about the rest of the gear.
Or is this just more incentive to run my M+ and Raid which is required for DF already.
Tiered Medallion Setting on the AH, rank3 version can add 3 sockets to a neck.
Atm there is no other guaranteed socket item for other slots, though it does appear that through random upgrade procs on bracer, belt, rings and perhaps head (though if this was possible I feel like it would be on crafted gear).
Could be that the socket procs on gear are unintentional leftovers from SL systems but doubt it.
Just make sure to use the Tier 1 for first socket. Tier 2 for 2nd and Tier 3 for last in that order otherwise you will waste a lot of gold as the last one cost about 30k
PvE gear is always optional but if you want to be optimal and run an S tier build you will be Raiding/M+ to get BiS gear.
Thanks for this. I haven’t bought it yet but at a glance I initially figured the tier 3 would just give 3 sockets at its price. The new system isn’t very intuitive
Yea I messed with it on Beta and saw some poor soul on the WoW head forums for Tiered medallions waste a lot of gold thinking the same thing. It’s an expensive mistake so it’s good to avoid it
It’s not and will cause a lot of people to make pricey mistakes which idk mabye is good for the economy. If you know what you are doing.
Only a few classes will need one or two items and the extra training from an additional 50 matches, the grind time to get the items from mythic, will make the perform better than the spike, especially since mythic 10+ is required to match conquest gear.
Especially because the overloaded vers is really needed this season to not get deleted.
Gonna disagree because with the release of Talent trees Versa is in the way. You can’t make an S tier build with Versa. You need Crit/Haste/Mastery in order to choose certain talents and builds. Ideally we want to get rid of 2-3k versa and we can do that when the Tier or Inspiration Catalyst comes out. Or just Raid from day 1.
On topic I just remembered the new gems aren’t catagorized in AH correctly. All the new DF gems are in the category under gems called “Other”. Search there then click to highest item lvl.
I ended up making this thread because the last tier of gems also got buffed from Beta and are even more important now. Tier 3 gems are +102 Stam and +33 secondary. So your 3 gems in neck is like having an entire other item slot.
PS - leg enchants aren’t in the right category either. If you are agility/str you need to search for the specific armor enchants which are huge stat amps.
From what I’m reading you need to use a rank 1, 2 and 3 item to add all 3 sockets. I’d test it but I’m all stingy with my gold now and am waiting until a week or two after the season ships to really buy stuff.
I’ve heard of people getting multiple rank 3 ones and being unable to apply multiple, so like 3 rank 3s, getting a single socket then having to also go buy rank 1-2 then resell the 2 rank 3s.
I have 2x teir 2’s in my neck. Not sure why the advice is to use a teir 3 as the last, as opposed to another teir 2? Trying to understand what the benefit is ?
The sockets added are based on the value of the Tiered Medallion. So the Tier 3 cost way more than the other 2. It’s basically the epic version as you can only add a 3rd socket with it. You can’t add a 3rd socket with the other ones. So don’t waste gold adding the first sockets with the Tier 3 only save it for the last one.
M+ It’s 3 levels less but often better stat weights.
Raid “Very Rare” drops which are new is 6 item levels higher than PvP gear. It’s the highest item level in game they also have special mods.
I guess if you win the “Very Rare” loot maybe you should own it up and YEET though.
