There are new “Very Rare” drops that are special. Open up the raid in game. There is a ring that is 430 item level with an Absorb. The new “Very Rare” drops are highest in game. So likely something to keep an eye on as we get into new Raid tiers.
Personally the M+ Forgestorm mace is BiS hands down for PvP. So I need it. The proc does a lot of damage.
TLDR: There will be socket making consumables in Dragonflight similar to Shadowlands and they will still be bought for currency obtained if you get Great Vault items unlocked, but not pick any of them and choose the alternative reward instead. Looks like you would get 3 Tokens if you choose the alternative reward regardless of how many items you unlocked (which is different from Shadowlands, where you would get 2 per item unlocked, up to 6) and the socket making item costs 6 Tokens per one. However, it is not needed to make sockets on necklaces, as that can be done with a separate consumable listed in this thread, so you would need 5 of them to apply sockets to all socketable gear without the necklace.
There might be other changes to this system on Season 1 release, so numbers could become different. And hopefully they consider changing cost of socket making item to 3 Tokens, so that you could get 1 socket per week, just like you could in Shadowlands.
Yea I was hoping they open up socketing. Everything should be able to have a socket or even 2. I like that necks are now 3. I’d like to have like 12 sockets where you can make builds. Also the new crafted mods are based on how many sockets you have and draw power from the gems you have in there.
