I suffer from Social Anxiety, asking for help is difficult for me. So I’ve learned to do on my own, both in RL and in WoW. The current state of the game makes it impossible to advance our character without doing either pvp, m+ or raiding. This is still a role-playing game and having our character get stronger is a motivator for everyone. What should I do once I have my covenant set maxed? What do you tell the 230ilvl mythic raider? Is the answer the same? If not, Why?
People here are going to tell you it’s a you problem.
The options available to us currently are good.
Then they’re going to say maybe a MMORPG isn’t for you.
That’s their “good faith” argument.
If you have limitations, you should expect to not get the same place as those without them.
Everyone reaches a gear cap based around the difficulty, time commitment, and organizational effort required of the content.
Gear doesn’t scale infinitely.
It’s funny you say blizz is excluding you, when YOU choose to not participate in content.
I’ve tried to do the group content I’ve been kicked from guild fro not being talkative enough. Called me “stuck up”.
Raiding is fine, with 20 people around you might just stay silent and pretend to be a bot.
But arena is way too intim, could never play it since very TBC, kinda sad, losing on half of the gameplay
I have OCD and Shadowlands is perfect for me. Repeat, repeat and repeat.
The words I want to say about those poor excuses for human beings… they cannot be said on these forums sadly.
I did have an ex mother-in-law who had the same attitude, though. Silly me for not wanting to talk due to being an anxious bean. /s
Unless you’re trying to do content that absolutely requires communication, you really don’t need to talk. If that guild really did kick you for not talking then that was just a bad guild.
Why do you need raid gear if you aren’t raiding?
Sure, ‘getting stronger’ is a motivator, but it sounds like you’re already as strong as you need to be. See it as a cap for the content you’re doing and just come back when there’s more content catered to you.
This is a MMO, which is designed to be a social experience first, I don’t mean to be rude but you should have expected this going in.
That’s just being in a bad guild then. If you were on my server I’d recommend mine, they don’t have any talking requirement and help people with dungeons/raids weekly. I recommend finding a better guild.
Until Blizzard begins introducing solo challenges to the game of similar difficulty to the higher end content, I don’t know if there’s going to be a gearing path to push past that ceiling. Each piece of content has a ceiling, and the only way past it is to dabble in other forms of content.
There is the option of doing what FF14 does with Poetics, where you can get relatively decent gear by doing queued content, but that only works because of how their queued content works in that there are more than dungeons and raids. I don’t believe that would translate well to WoW.
Social anxiety is a pretty common issue, but that is what’s stopping you from progression. In the past, you had an even lower gear ceiling when raiding was pretty much the only gear source. This was only really different in Legion and BfA where WQs had that chance to Titanforge; prior expansions you had a lot less options than even now.
You have an anxiety disorder, sadly that means it’s going to impact you on all aspects of life
You’ll notice a game with a game with an in game society with have parts of it that mimic the real society
There isn’t anything blizzard can do to help you here, this isn’t a blizzard problem it’s a you problem as a user stated that would be said
I’d advise seeing someone with methods to treat your anxiety and use WoW as a practice platform for real life
Why do people keep saying this garbage? People want to progress their character. It really doesn’t matter if they are killing lvl 1’s all day they are still going to want to get some sort of progression for their time. No progression means the game is beat and its time to move on, exactly the opposite of what Blizzard and other players should want.
I don’t suffer social anxiety per se. But I don’t much enjoy human company. I am close to being schizoid. That said, I socialize well enough to work effectively, have relationships that are rewarding though few. I understand what you are saying. It is difficult to gear your character well if you avoid group play, for whatever reason. Still, I love the game and I just made do with what I can acquire. I love pvp, though I always pug, and was able to acquire a full blue set. I also find battleground rep stuff is worth working for. All things considered, the game is still fun for me. I do think things will be different (better) when most of the players move on to TBC and those of us who choose to stay back in Classic will find many like minded types scattered in Azeroth.
This. I’ve personally found WoW as an excellent way to overcome my own anxiety when it comes to talking to others. It took me months to even join my raiding guild’s VC and even when I did, I muted myself.
Anxiety can absolutely be overcome, but it requires painful, stressful amounts of effort, but it’s so worth it.
I’ve tried to change my behavior for Shadowlands. My main has been in three guilds so far. The first booted me for not talking on discord. the other two tell me the same thing. Anything less than a +15 isn’t worth their time, pug m+ to gear up. I stopped pugging mid december due to constantly being told I was stupid or just retarded.
Doesn’t change that it’s true, as for what blizzard wants, they want their community to be engaged, solo content that keeps their community from doing things together is bad for this.
If you won’t do the content provided then that means the game is beat for you until the next patch. Not like you get anything for getting gear you don’t need, personally if it were me I’d be happy this game has any solo content at all, they’ve clearly tried to cater to solo players, but the entire game isn’t going to ever cater to you because this is still an MMO first and foremost.
I think Seaisleice is correct as well as Portage.
I have just worked around the game play and accept that I just will never get that gear level.
Unfortunately I chose Kyrian before I knew a dungeon was required. However, Blizz is aware that certain people just can’t do higher/harder content and never makes them a requirement.
It’s all you can do. I don’t expect a game to change for my issues.
It’s honestly not that bad. A little frustrating on SL not being able to quickly do dungeons to catch up, but WQ’S give gear.
Hang in there. Work with what you can. Hugs!
No they don’t want progression. Progression is getting better and pushing harder content, like it has been since day one. You watched that South Park episode too much like really.
Look at my toon right now. Stuff happened I didn’t get to get into it as much as I used to and that is fine. I don’t need Mythic gear for what I do on any of my toons.
FOMO is real to some I get it, but wanting more for not doing the tougher stuff has NEVER been in the spirit of this game.
Wow. I hope you eventually find a non-toxic guild, OP.
